  1. Welcome from a third PA fly fisher about 60 miles south of you.
  2. I used a dremel to turn my Thompson whip finisher into a bodkin. I just couldn't get the hang of it and bought a matarelli and learned to use it in a few minutes. Roy
  3. I'll send a SASE for a bag of Llama fur. That would be great. Just need the address Thanks Roy
  4. Nice pictures. A lot nicer than my old Nikon coolpix Roy
  5. How is it at macro photos of flies? Roy
  6. I made some of these bobbins bobbins I think you might have to sign in. I like my 2 dollars store bought bobbin better than the ones I made but I'm not much of a craftsman. Roy

    alpaca wool

My neighbors have a couple of Llama and maybe an alpaca or two. My wifes teaches one of their kids and mentioned that I would like some wool to tie with. The woman thought my wife meant that I would like ALL of the wool that they produce.. apparently she can't get rid of it. I think maybe she hasn't tried hard enough or she has alpaca that do not produce textile quality wool. If I get all of it I will be sure to let everybody know. Roy
  8. Is the best way to color them when they are already on the hook? Or maybe use a bodkin or a tooth pick. Just thinking how not to color my fingers along with the beads. Roy
  9. I see you are from the Pittsburgh area as am I. I have seen those in Lake Wilhelm and was told that it is a freshwater sponge, that needs the high tannin content found in lake Wilhelm. It is supposed to be a sign of clean water as the sponges can't survive in dirty water. They don't do anything but sit there and look like snot. A rough life but somebody has to do it. So I'm going with freshwater Sponge. Roy
  10. I don't post much either. It seems whenever I have a question, I just look here and within a few hours either way... someone else has had the same question. I live about 15 mile south of Pittsburgh. The Cabin Fever show at the Sheraton North was today from 9:00 Am until 4:00 PM. I went for a few hours. Roy
  11. Signed and I will bow to the peer pressure applied by Rp3flyfisher and do the same, even though the reel is twice as nice as any other I own. I love salt water fishing in NC Roy
  12. Jens: That picture and explanation are a BIG help. Thank you Roy
  13. Thanks Jens. Now I just need to learn about the fish bone techniue and I will be in business. Roy
  14. Could you give us the recipe? I've been looking for a good perch pattern and this looks like it fits the bill. Thanks. Roy
  15. I don't know if this is what you're looking for or not... Says "Metz Saddles" in the Fly fishing catalog I received today. Also says "New." Item Number ITEM: TZ-321051 for grade 1 and ITEM: TZ-321052 for grade 2. No picture on the web site. Roy
