I also like light blue but depending on the fly will use black as well. Given a choice I say blue. I may also suggest buying a piece of blue foam. A lot cheaper than a plate

Hey guys. This guy was on my window screen. I originally thought it was a caddis but the wings are more "Stonefly Like". It was a huge bug, I think the size is throwing me off. What is it?

Thanks for the link Kev. Pertaining to redwings "Oily feather" comment.... I may be wrong but I think that commercial feathers are cleaned with a light detergent of some type to clean the feathers. I think I remember hearing that, or reading it somewhwere. Could be wrong.

Hi All, How many (Im not looking for an actual number) CDC feathers can be gathered from 1 duck. A handful, 2 handfulls a glad bags worth....? In other words, how pleantiful are CDC feather around the ducks a**? A female mallard was found dead at work the other day and shes in my freezer (should have seen the folks at the marina watch me as I walked away with it. I looked at one of them and said that the find made my day). P.S I obtained permission from a ranger to take the duck.

Im too poor at the moment to buy the Nikon D80 package that I have wanted for a while now. I found the camera in my moms closest and she hadnt used it in years and she let me have it. Thanks guys for the replies Ill check that book out! Heres a couple shots, Id love a little negative input.

Not long ago, in April, I recieved a film camera and recieved some great advise from many of you "Finding my way around it". Since then I have been having a great time and have even taken some pictures that made me thnk I could be getting better at this. In my own humble oopinion that is. I have been utilizing ideal lighting situations and natural angles to achieve my shots. I think tis time to complicate things a little. I have been using Kodak 400 speed film. I would like to improve my shots and am wondering what the ideal film to use would be? I have read it makes a big difference. Also, Im ready to start adjusting the settings on my own to get the effect that Im looking for. Aperature, etc... Does anyone have any tips? Finally, I want another lense for macro shots and close ups. Does anyone know of a good one for my model camera? (see specs below). Camera: Minolta Maxxum 500 si Lens: Sigma 200m 28/200 mm I know this is a lot to ask in one post but Im anxious and inspired by all the great things I see here! Matt

As part of my struggle to figure out a few Colorado Tail Waters, here is a protocol Mysis Shrimp Pattern. The Pics a little fuzzy and the blue krystal flash that is ribbed under the abdomen does'nt show. Id like to add some mono eyes next time. Cheers, Matt
