Use Dream Weaver, it's a program to build websites, Adobe is the manufacturer of it now. "Dream Weaver For Dummies" is a good book. The current version of is it CS3, you can find it for around $300 if you look for it. I use DW to do my site, it took me about two weeks to figure out the program. It works on the WYSIWYG priniciple, "What you see is what you get", you can also switch to coding, so you can see what the actual html coding is. The one thing I like about DW is that you can build both simple and complex sites with it. Good Luck! Brian

I have tying streamers lately and was wondering if there's a better box for them. Can anyone suggest a good box for streamers? Thanks! Brian

I have some friends that are going elk hunting soon and said they would do what they could to get me some elk hair for fly tying. They asked me if there was any particular part of the animal that would offer the best hair. So where on the animal is the best place or places for hair for tying? Thanks! Brian

Yes, there are several small streams in Utah, some of which are very near Salt Lake. Brian

I am not much for photographing my flies, but I know a thing or two about photography. Why don't you tell us more about how you are photographing your flies first off. What camera are you using, what lights, if any you are using, etc.. An example of your photographs would be helpful too. Welcome to FTF! Brian

Good looking stream Russ! Brian

Speaking of getting them from the bird.. In my area, Salt Lake City, we have an avaiary, that has a few peacocks. The avaiary gives them to the public, all you have to do is get on their list. You might try something like that. Brian

You're in good company there Russ! Brian Now that she is learning the internet, we may have to schedule time on the computer. How' the fishing been in Utah this summer, Brian? The fishing in Utah is great for the the rest of Utah, but for me it's not so great! It sounds like you need to get a second computer! That's what my wife and I did. Brian

Slightly More Challenging Streamer Patterns...

Thanks guys! Brian -
I have some tying under my belt and am looking for a streamer pattern that's slightly more challenging than a Wolly Bugger. I live in Utah, so I am looking for westen patterns. Any suggestions? Thanks! Brian

Film is what I know, film is what I love. I don't eschew digital or new technology, it's just that I feel that photography is a photo/mechanical/chemical, etc, process and not a photo/digital one. I also think that there is a certain craft aspect to film photography, which will make a difference in fine art circles, anway. And while I haven't been in the darkroom for sometime now, I love the hands on aspect of it too, I love hadling the film that I shoot, and being intimately involved in the image making process. These are my thoughts on shooting film, and aren't meant to add to the endless which is better debate, as I said, film is what I know. Anyway, good luck with your camera! Brian

With a lens like that that, and considering that you are shooting sports, I'd recommend a monopod. However, having both is very common, if you can afford it buy both. Brian
-
What's the lens you're talking about and what kind of photography are you doing? If you're doing landscape stuff, where you're using small apetures and slow shutter speeds, I'd recommend a tripod. Brian
