Best fish and the fly that fooled it
TheBigLost replied to chrismartin's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
You won't catch flak from me for keeping that fish. What a great story.. especially the green butts in his mouth! -
Al, I tie most of my nymphs with the pots weave and horse hair. I also tie a cranefly imitation with horse mane and potts weave. The hackle is weaved in with the hair. The fly is indestructible. My fav river (The Big Lost River) is full of them so pulling them upstream (even against the current) snakes out killer strikes.

I am a Nikon fan and I was wondering if anyone shoots with a D3. I am considering purchasing one but would like to hear an owners prospective on this camera. What else does everyone shoot with?

Holy :poop: (I've always wanted to use that emoticon) There's quite an array in this forum. I think it's AWESOME! One thing that runs parallel through us all is our love for this sport (and taking time to do it). You guys RAWK.

Fisherman Finds Long-Lost Class Ring in 8-Pound Bass
TheBigLost replied to TheBigLost's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
The article says the ring was lost in 1987 so that would have to be one old fish. I bet he found it foraging. -

I love to look at pictures of flies on this site. It's one of the highlights of getting online for me. One thing that distracts me from enjoying these flies is when forum posters don't resize their images (800x600 is preferable) and I have to wait an eon for the pictures to load. Even on my 2mb connection some of them take forever to load, decreasing time spent viewing flies. Often times I just skip the large view of the fly if it takes to long to load. Also when a large file is uploaded on your end it takes quite a bit of time depending on your connection. When you load the picture directly from your camera the picture file is very large. It is relatively easy to resize your pictures, even all at once and directly from your desktop. If you are using windows XP read here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/d...eschelman2.mspx If you are using Vista things are a bit more challenging, so I use a free software program called PIXresizer: http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm You can also use online picture resizing, just google "resizing pictures" I think we could all benefit from reducing the size of our uploaded images. Thanks guys and GO FISHING!! :yahoo:

TheBigLost replied to TheBigLost's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
I'd buy that for a dollar. Seriously, anyone tried any engraving on your flies? It's like those foreign fellas who engrave microscopic words on individual pieces of rice. Now that would a strong seller on the Bay.... Oh and Day5, your website rawks and those flies.....incredible originals. Thanx 4 sharing. -

LOL.. Ebay actually can make you some great side money. I've been selling on there for 8 years. Now I'm gonna try some flies. Hey Day 5, whats your ebay username? Link us to a couple of your auctions if you have any going. I have one going for The book "Trout Flies" by Dave Hughes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250331509354
