  1. Hallo Florian, willkommen zu dieser Seite. Hier gibt es viele Leute, die viel ueber ftf wissen. Ich freue mich, ein paar deiner Fliegen zu sehen.
  2. Fly Tier's Benchside Reference ..... Fly Tier's Bible
  3. Most people voted for art form. From the flies that have been posted here on this forum it would be the most likely choice. It would be difficult to call something that is made of resin or glued and painted sometimes without a hook or a hook eye."another form of tying". But tying flies with realistic qualities has merit where it applies to fishing . I hope you continue to tie realistics and if I can help in any way , let me know. Fred Get real !!!!!!! How about you create your own web site !!!! The Fly Tying Gospel according to Fred H. !!!!!! It gets to be very old that unless people totally subscribe to your fly tying methods, fly fishing methods, etc. they are fly tying infidels in your eyes, and you proceed to put everybody down !!!! Your ego trip has gotten way old !!!!! Wouldn't you be happier with your own web site or is destroying other web sites with your sick ego trip what you get off on !!!!!! There are many styles in the realm of fly tying. This is a forum to share ideas and innovations; not to put down people who do not subscribe to your gospel (?) of fly tying or for those on an ego trip !!!!!! Get a life Fred !!!!!!!! Wow! That is a little harsh :shocking: I do not know much about tying realistics; however, it seems to me that Fed bends over backwards to help members. I just do not quite understand the personal attacks over subjective opinions :dunno: In my opinion, it ultimately ends up hurting FTF. Just my 2 cents worth
  4. I keep pulling dryer lint from the vent on the dryer. I keep thingking this would be good for dubbing. Has anyone ever used dryer lint for dubbing material? Would you have to prepare it in any way before using?
  5. I received my flies :headbang: Horeseshoes, was the return postage (IPC) enough? I fnot let me know and I will make it right
  6. I received my flies the other day. Great group of hoppers. Thanks everyone
  7. Ditto Keep them excellent patterns coming
  8. One thing I have noticed is that Fred is one of the good guys on FTF. That's what I like about FTF. There is a lot of good guys that are willing to help or give advise. terrome, although I am not into tying realistics, I enjoy looking at your work. Indeed, it is amazing. That being said, PLEASE STOP!
  9. Fred, that is some good attention to detail. Very nice!
  10. I've got an old time 86 year old neighbor who only panfishes now. He trims his hackle and swears it does not affect the fishability. That being said, I learned quickly in the fly tying wold that is very much looked down upon.
  11. Bass tournaments  I deal with it by not fishing the larger lakes on the weekends
  12. I like it Will!. If it makes it easier go for it :headbang:
  13. HR 45 is dead where it stands! It was introduced 1-06-09 and can not get out of sub-committee or even get any cosponsors for the the bill.
  14. After reading numerous kudos aboout J Stockard, I broke from my 2 suplliers and placed and order yesterday.
  15. Flytire, thanks for the good info, especially on the wulff.
  16. I think that is kind of my question. A traditional fly, such as an adams, should only be tied w/ the materials and color scheme of an "adams"? I'm not trying to beleaguer the point, just trying to get some insight
  17. The other day I thought I would start trying (traditional dry flies). Since I usualy fish for bass or panfish, this is kind of out of my comfort zone. Well. I began tying an Adams. Tail: moose mane, Body: adams grey dub, wing: poly, and hackle: 2 brown neck hackles. I used 2 brown because they were easily accessible and I did not want to dig for a grizzly. Turned out pretty good and I was starting to pat myself on the back :clapping: Well, my buddy comes over and sees the fly. He responds, "nice Wulff". I said, no... it's an Adams He replies, " no it's a Wulff" and points out that I did not use any grizzly hackle. So, I began researching patterns and found numerous Wulff flies that use all sorts materials and color patterns. Also, I found some Adams flies that frankly, did not look like an Adams. Excuse me for my ignorance, but honestly, I do not see a whole lot of differences between the two. If I tie and Adams, but use a slight variation in color or material, is it no longer an Adams? Does it become some kind of unpure variation or is it a totally different fly worthy of a new name :dunno:

    Poppers

VERN-O, those are pretty cool :headbang:
  20. Besides the traditional materials (i.e hackle and deer hair, rubber, etc), I was wondering if anyone had any effective material ideas for bass poppers. I'm trying to think outside the box
  21. Hoppers are ready to be shipped :headbang: Can you shoot me an addy
  22. Flies have been mailed and are heading east :headbang:
  23. I believe all flytying is an art form. However, realistics is truely one of the highest forms of of the art!
