  1. Wow, John. Really love the pattern and the tie. Just super! :headbang: :headbang:
  2. Maybe you should go outside and rub your hands on some tree bark, poke yourself in the eye and drink a gallon of coffee so your hands shake so you can really botch one up.... Then we'll have something to talk about..... :headbang: :headbang:
  3. Not the first time a Montreal Whore has been tied up.... but it usually costs you extra. Great job Ray! :headbang: :headbang:
  4. If you have the latest revision of the Bates book (1995), there is an added couple of plates in the rear of the book which have a letter from the Chief and photos of his original and I believe a Bert Quimby tied version. Additionally, the attached pdf might be of some help. chief.pdf

  6. Over the top.... Bet she read a great Tell Tale Heart (told from a madman's perspective)! Probably appropriate this old thread rises from the dead: http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?sho...24&hl=raven
  7. Nice! :headbang: Really getting into the swing of it... So, do you have a copy of one of the 'Tales' with the Harry Clarke (circa 1933??) illustrations???
  8. Ahh....Fortunato! Wonderfully tied! :headbang: :headbang: One of my favorite Poe stories as well.... Now....should I tell you the one slight error of your ways??? (you must be a beer drinker) Sincerely, Montresor P.S. Yes, Carrie was a Wiccan.....always in that black dress.....prematurely gray.... and all those fly names..... Wizards, Witches, Ghosts.....
  9. I think there are examples of Carrie's original flies that have some on the top and some on the bottom. Others who have seen many more than me have said it's usually 75-80% occurrence they're on top. You could probably find instances where this fly was tied the other way. This was either do to inconsistency, or more likely, experimentation and evolution. I prefer them on top, even if it makes them a little less visible, simply because when displayed, they tend to droop a bit when tied under the shank. When on top, they're supported by the shank/body, as well as being more trapped inside the wings. Of course, when fished there is probably little discernable difference to the fish one way or the other.
  10. Nice & neat, even if it's incomplete! :headbang:
  11. You boys are crankin them out! Wish I had some quality vise time... This reminds me of Bergman's Red Squirrel Gold. A good producer. I'm sure this will too. :headbang:
  12. I agree. Versatile and a must-have. :headbang: I tie a lot of these with soft collar instead of dry. I've found, not surprisingly, they are very effective during periods of high caddis activity.
  13. Lordy Lordy! :headbang: Another one of my faves....
  14. One of my faves of the classic wets. Claret fetish again.... Great as always. :headbang:
  15. Jamie, First, many thanks for the Bali pair (and the fly!)- got them today. In the note you sent, you made a comment about your streamers not being up to snuff. I don't see it. These are simply wonderful. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Pretty rare sight, the three of them together. I agree with the others, given the scarcity of these feathers, and therefore those patterns, I'd do something special with them. I'm envisioning a dome with driftwood....
  16. Ha, Kansas... Very neatly tied Mike. Nice. :headbang: Love those feathers.... wish I had some..... :crying:
  17. I'm here on Fridays and Saturdays. Try the prime rib. :smoke:
  18. Mike teased: Haven't seen it yet.... That head must be the size of Kansas. You using a Wagner power sprayer to put on the head cement? :gunsmilie: :devil2:
