  1. That is a pattern invented by a guy here in Colorado... He ties them on 200r's. That being said you should tie them how you want. I also fish them in a number of trophy stillwaters in size 10 and 12. C
  2. I'm with Bob. Only it isn't the rain in Colorado it is the snow pack. I bet we have run off until it starts snowing again. We have so much the ski resorts opened back up until the snow is gone... Yes skiing in June, maybe into July. Too bad I don't ski, just fish C
  3. While I agree that no peacock dubbing is like actual herl. I also think the Dungeon Mr. Peacock Dubbing is my favorite product he sells. I use it a lot. I don't think the fish will mind that you changed it up a little. I have used it a number of times in my PT nymphs. I have a few different colors of PT and I will often use a similar dyed shade of Mr. Peacock. As for your hook question I have seen Copper Johns on even 200R hooks. The best... and I mean BEST thing about tying your own flies is that you can do anything you want. Keep tying... and it is prety cool to catch a fisherman with your tying once in a while too. C
  4. Avril Thanks for posting pics of everyone's swap flies. I think they are a great set and I can't wait to get them wet. C
  5. Polar bear, Riff and David got theirs. Anyone else? C
  6. Flies went into the mail first thing this morning... Should be there tuesday. C
  7. NJ Don't be surprised if it takes a while at this time of the year to fill the swap... or even not fill. The forum tends to get a LOT slower in the swap department this time of year. That said I am in. I will look at colors tonight. C
  8. Wow... 19 days to get to australia from Colorado, USA. I would love to spend 19 days IN Australia, but not GETTING to Australia. Thanks for hosting. C
  9. Alright everyone... The flies have left COLORADO :D :D . I tried to get them out both Thursday and Friday, but neither day I got out of work early enough to make it to the post office before it closed, so I had to mail them today. As an FYI for future swaps that you participate in, and I believe this has been brought up on the forum recently, but the price of postage has gone up from $1.53 to $1.71. It was no big deal for those of you who still sent postage at the old rate, but in the future you should know that you just can't put 4 stamps on anymore. Also there were many extra flies from a few people sending a dozen instead of the required 9 that I decided to split them up. I tossed an extra 2 flies into each of your tins randomly. Not everyone toe tagged, including me (I rarely do when I SM) but the parachute ant is mine, the para coachman is from Avril, and the para mosquitos are from Flon18. Thanks everyone for participating and for your patience. I also want to thank everyone who sent extras they are never necessary, but always much appreciated. Please let me know as the flies land back on your end, I like to keep track of who has received their flies back I look forward to swapping with all you guys and gals again C
  10. On my way out door for work today the mail man delivered a package of parachute flies all the way from the Netherlands. All the flies are here. I will sort them tonight and hopefully have them in the mail tomorrow or friday at the latest Thanks everyone for participating. I will let you all know when I drop the flies in the mail. C
  11. Flon Flies arrived. We are just waiting on a set of parachutes to gently land from the Netherlands and then I will get the flies turned around and back to everyone. C
  12. Dave I sent the flies out well over a week ago. They have been in the mail for a while. C
  13. I'll let you know. Thanks for participating C
  14. As I feel like you would prefer something less drastic I will tie the "Grey Nymphlet" Hook: #22 TMC 200R Bead: Black Thread: Grey 8-0 Uni Tail: Grey Maribou Rib: Red Floss Thorax: Grey Possum Wingcase: pearl mylar Abdomen: Grey Possum Hope that fits the spirit of the swap a little better. C
  15. Today is the deadline for the swap. I have flies from everyone except for Flon18, sjo and Rich 5665 I heard from both Flon nad SJO and their flies are on their way. I hope nothing has happened to Rich as he is usually very prompt and involved. If I don't hear from Rich before the other 2 sets arrive I will consider him a no show. A number of you sent a dozen flies for the swap, we might just have 8 tyers, so I will return the extras that were sent for the dozen. I also want to thank everyone for the generous extras. I don't say too much during the swap because I don't want anyone to feel obligated to send extras, but they are always very much appreciated. I will keep everyone posted as the final sets of flies arrive. Thanks for your patience C
  16. I'm sorry if I took too much of an evolutionary leap. I really thought I was only changing the wing. It seemed to me throughout this process that everyone was pretty liberal with their hook sizes, even though you had mentioned that size could be your change. I also took evolution to mean that as long as the material was there, it was accounted for. For example I moved the pearl mylar from wing case to tag end. The body stayed the same with the grey dubbing, the red floss rib. I really thought I was only adding 1 thing... a changed wing. I still have 3 weeks and so I am happy to change the picarry fibers to another tailing material and make another nymph. I thought it would be fun to make some sweeping changes while still keeping all the materials from Gdp's fly, I guess I did take some away. Please let me know what you would like me to do. There is plenty of time for me to tie either or both flies. I thought baitfish because that is the only place we had not gone yet. We had been from nymph to dry and then back again. Cencal tried to make a real evolutionary jump with his mutant fly, but to no avail. Let me know what you would like me to do C
  17. Sorry everyone for the long delay in the evolution. Here is my submission: "Who Ate My Midge?" Hook #2 Thread: Grey Tag: Pearl Mylar Rib: Red Floss Body: Grey Wing: White Bucktail over Red Bucktail over Grey Mariboo Thanks C
  18. So everyone does not think that I have bailed completely, the fly has evolved. I have the recipe, but not with me as I am at work again. The name of my fly is "Who ate my Midge," the fly has evolved into a streamer of sorts. I will post the recipe tomorrow. C
  19. SOME of my stuff is always labled, some is not. I don't think it is a cost thing... I think it is a time thing. I write down what I order as I finalize my cart so I know what is coming. It is kind of a hassle dealing with this type of stuff, but I really like every product I have received. For the cost I am willing to put up with quite a bit. C And I thought that only happened to me. Does he still package his goods un-labeled in clear plastic bags? That's the only thing I don't like about the dungeon. Maybe he can get Avery labels and stick the product name on the bags. Shouldn't cost that much and cut into his profits? And it would make it easy to replace the product down the road, when the person would like more.
  20. For the record I am working on my submission... but evolution takes time :P Really I am getting killed at work and it will probably be friday before I get around to taking a break at the vise. C
  21. Once I get past the #18 barrier I call everything a midge, even if it is a trico :)
  22. As an update... I asked for an addy 3 weeks ago when I had 3 buggers left to tie. I will finish those three buggers tonight or tomorrow and then into the mail on the long trip down under. I am such a procrastinator C
  23. From an evolutionalry standpoint I was less surprised by the mutant spey transformation than the move from spininator to midge. I am still working on my evolutionary step. Should have something by tonight or tomorrow. C
