  3. Last time i bought materials from cabela's the hackle fibers were so long and they told me the pack of hackle had all the sizes i would need but it did not. I also baught an orange bucktail but most of it was black. But I love the rods I bought there for starting fly fishing. So I would say that for materials go to a fly shop but for hooks and rods for beginners go to cabelas.

  10. Hi I have started to tie fully dressed flies or married wings ( I don't know what the real term for them is) i am using goose shoulder and am trying to marry three different colors together. The first time I tried it it was easy to marry them together. They went together like zip block bags. But I am now trying to use 5 or 6 fibers of each color when to start I was only using 3 or 4 fibers. So now they are not staying together. Also when I try to tie the smaller wings wings in ( the ones with only 3 or 4 fibers) They break apart I really don't know what do. Any Tips would be appreciated Thanks a lot Charlie

  16. Hi I love tying trout flies because they intricate but I am still at the basics with them. I also love to tie salmon flies because they are bright and colorful. I want to learn to tie spun dear hair flies like mice and muddlers. and eventually want to try my hand at married wings but I am not yet properally equipped to tie married wings. So really anything along these lines that you can think of like new flies to tie, techniques, or good websites to get information or to purchase materials. any info is helpful Thank You Charlie
  17. I agree with all of those. Like someone had for mentioned use less dubbing. Remember you can always add more if you need to. What I do is take some dubbing from my box and from that I pull small amounts and just spin it onto my thread which i leave dangling from the hook. I push the individual bunches close together then I wrap it around the hook in close wraps binding down tightly. Hope this helps Charlie
