  1. Still no flies from this swap.........
  2. Hey guys, I logged on today for the first time in well over a month, mainly because I had never received the package for this spey swap, and just was wondering if the rest had been received. To my horror, I am apparently "banned" from swaps..... I have no idea why, I have not received an email about this, and never received an email saying i had any PM's. Could someone give me an idea as to why I've been banned, what the issue is? And is this issue the reason I did not receive the flies for this swap? Totally confused... :dunno: Dave
  3. Yeah, that spoon fly looks like it would be awesome dragging it through the current in front of some browns. Everyone let us know when your flies show up!. Thanks, Dave
  4. I received my flies today, thanks guys! They look great, now juts to fight my dad over who gets which flies! Dave
  5. Glad to hear my flies showed up! I'll be watching the mailbox. Thanks everyone! Dave
  6. Hey guys, I thought I had been keeping everyone up to date on the progress of this swap, but Joe Hard says a few of you are concerned, so I'll give ya the final update. As of January 9th, I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, as my girlfriend of over two years up and left, leaving me searching for a financial backing, and some time to fix the hurt and shock of it all. The last package of flies only arrived on the 11th of January, about a month later then first couple sets. Since the ninth, I've only been home for a few hours at a time, as I was away trying to reconcile my relationship, and trying to find some $$. Friday, I was able to ship out 4 of the 5 packages, but due to increased rates, and the thickness of the fly protecting boxes, they were more expensive then thought. Joe's came to $7.82, Spey's was $5.95, CJcall's was $5.95, GS's was $5.95, and, Sjo's was $7.30 to The Netherlands. (Yes, cheaper then sending Joe's about 100 KM, gotta love canada Post) I was 50 cents short on Sjo's package, so it will be shipped out today, Monday. The girlfriend had snatched the swap money out of my dresser before she left, so i had to cover this myself, which isn't any problem. The flies are more then worth it. Hope that is what everyone was looking for. By the way, all the flies were excellent, and the bonus swapmeister flies were excellent too! Thanks everyone, the guys in the states, it'll be 1 - 2 weeks probably, Joe, it should only take a couple days to reach you, and Sjo, probably at least 2 weeks for yours to show up. Thanks guys! Dave
  7. Hey guys, Got my flies done, went with a chartreuse spey hackle, a throat of ruffed grouse, and turkey wing. They look pretty decent, for my spey standards. I'll try to get a picture. Dave
  8. I've been a little slow on mine, been away from the house the last couple weeks, girlfriend of 3 years up and left me with a few big holes, one in the heart, the other in the bank acount. I'll be home Thursday, and I will have them out Monday. I'll send 'em air mail, that should get them there in about 7 days or so. Dave
  9. I've been away on several trips the last few weeks. My girlfriend of 3 years left on Jan 9th, and I made several trips to try to reconcile, and had a trip to doctors in halifax, and to visit my friends. All the flies have arrived, and will be shipped out Thursday when I am going to be home for at least a few days. Just an untimely event in my life, depending on where each of you are it could be a week or two before the flies show up, which all depends on the good old postal service. (Sjo, yours might take a bit longer to reach the netherlands) Thanks, Dave
  10. Hey guys....I'm logged into the site, but still the Vote! button s are unclickable. I've tried several times with no luck...ideas?? Dave
  11. Hey Day5, It's not much of a surprize to me either. Even without christmas etc I've seen it take 20+ days for Small packet to reach the USA, and had one package mailed to me from the USA (A glass insulator) take 48 BUSINESS days! I think they broke out the old Pony Express for that one. Dave
  12. I think that would fit under "someone calling the DNR" The official response anywhere in Canada and the USA should be a big "illegal to do so", but ya just never know. Dave
  13. Hey guys, got word the final package reached my place today. I'm away from home with what I'll call a "family issue", and hopefully I'll be back in 2 or 3 days to get the flies shipped out to y'all. Thanks to everyone that participated. I can likely get pictures of the flies when I return if everybody likes. Thanks, Dave
  14. Shooting any migratory bird, except those permitted by your local waterfowl hunting laws(ducks, geese, snipe, woodcock, crows etc) is illegal. But, that doesn't stop thousands of farmers, hunters, and kids from doing it. Very unlikely you'll get jail time, but you will likely be charged under your local game laws, under the migratory game bird act. Most likely see hefty fines though. Very unlikely your going to get caught, unless you are on public land, someones calls the DNR, or your doing something otherwise wrong that will catch DNR's attention. Personally I wouldn't shoot one just because they are harmless, some are rare, and I accidently shot one off a bird feeder when I was 13. (I was gunning for the big blackbird that was being a seed bully) Before the migratory bird act, it was legal to shoot any bird that flew, pretty much - that's how some famous birders confirmed species, their shotgun was as effective as their binoculars for collecting new species. Personally I don't see a problem with selective harvest of any species, but the act was put in place to protect species from ending up like the passenger pigeon and the Labrador Duck - hunted to extinction.
