  1. Buy the book "Hatches II" by Al Caucci and Bob Nastasi and it will tell you what you want to know. My two personal favorite patterns for this critter are an emerger (grey dubbing, deer hair wing) fished dead drift in the surface film in slack water and a swimmer nymph fished on the swing in the faster riffle water. The latter is pretty cool as big trout (15-24" in my experience) will clear the water chasing it. This nymph will also imitate isonychias.
  2. Does anyone know of any manufactures or retailers that sell a tool for cutting zonker strips from a full pelt? Cutting them out one at a time is not fun and I don't want to make my own tool.
  3. I don't have a pattern. I'm working on trying to build one.
  4. Any help as I can't find anything through the search engines. I'd rather not assume that it was black just based on the dry fly patterns I've seen.
  5. Does anyone know of any good rivers and lakes in Kansas that provide good oppurtunities for trout? Preferably within 1.5 hours of Wichita, or even any states close by with good oppurtunites.
  6. Calf body as mentioned ... unless you are tying bug dries like hexagenia .... then use calf tail.
  7. Just keep in mind that a gull is a protected species and that the feathers are illegal to use. A lady here in Michigan used bluejay feathers (that she collected near her bird feeder) once in a painting and displayed it at an exhibit. Next thing you know, she was issued a ticket.
  8. Do a search in these forums ... you will find results.
  9. Size 2 mouserat on a 6wt during the day or at night
