  1. Steam or heat will only work temporarily with stuff like this. Check out Ronn Lucas' site for a experiment Royce Stearns did with GP crest.
  2. A SIZE 10   That must have been tough! I bet the Bass and Gills will slam it :headbang:
  3. I don't know of any online videos or anything, check your PM
  4. Great flies, those organza fibers are really sweet :headbang:
  5. That's great Brad! With all these mice being tied lately I'm suprised no one's put a mouse swap up yet
  6. Fantastic first mouse, especially since you weren't really that familiar with spinning or stacking deer hair yet :headbang:

    Mouse

This is the fly I tied for the Virtual Tying Class last night.
  8. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Alex C.: Mouse
  9. Anyone know what color bronze is or how to make text in photoshop that looks the same bronze as a hook?
  10. Here's one I usually tie in a 26-30  Actually there's a fly in Shane Stalcup's book Mayflies Top to Bottom called a stillborn emerger that you might want to check out
  11. Nice looking country you got down there Dustin Reminds me of an area I knew like the back of my hand back in Michigan. One of those spots where you could take in your pole and your gun and hunt while you fished
  12. Cripples and Spinners is good the first time you read it. There's some good info. But then it is probably gonna spend a lot of time collecting dust. Speaking of which, wanna buy mine, basicly brand new, just dusty. Knowing where you fish you've got a great start to your collection. I'd also reccomend Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout and then these are books I don't see how anyone can go without: Caddisflies by Gary Lafontaine, can you say caddis bible? Hatches II by Al Caucci and Bob Nastasinot sure if you fish a lot of mayfly hatches down there, but if ya do get this book Selective Trout by Doug Swisher and Carl Richards, info on all three of the major insect species we imitate as well as some stuff on midges and terrestrials. Some of it is a little dated but there's some great reading here. These are all oldies, but goodies. You should be able to find each online for little to nothing and I guarantee they won't collect dust
  13. Clean out your PM box or make it bigger or something
  14. I can't really comment on the travel case, but I got a FishPond Vest Pack last spring and the quality of their stuff is top notch and worth every extra penny.
  15. That was a great step by step Mark :headbang: In my spin fishing days I loved throwing spinnerbaits and jig/pigs for Bass. I've known of the pigboat pretty much since I started fly fishing and tying but have never tied any. I think I might have to tie a few up for my box this year though. I think some of these tied on a #6 or a #8 with a little bit of lead to get it to the bottom would be killer for Bluegills! Tell me, do you use less rubber for fishing places with clearer(sp?) water, and more for dirtier water?
  16. Although I've never really had the desire to fish in any type of tournament, I think this type of contest sounds fun and maybe a little challenging. Wouldn't it suck to lose one of your flies to a submerged log on the first cast of the day Since I'm from Michigan and the trout are way smarter there than anywhere else in the world, this should be a piece of cake
  17. The biggest thing I see other than the tail issues is the body and the hackle might be started a little too far back. It's tough to tell though caus it might just be a funny angle that the picture was taken from. But to me the body looks a little short. The wings are tough to judge also since they're at an angle and are longer than they look. All in all though it looks good, just thin that tail out, having it that full is going to negatively affect how the fly sits on the water. For a quick fix on that one and any other with a big tail, no pun intended, just ake your scissors and start cutting off a few hairs at a time till you get it where you want it, then stick them in your fly box.
  18. I could probably make it, can anyone participate? Is there a website or anything? I'm guessing this is similar to the One fly competitions?
  19. You and your wife are in my thoughts George. I think if there's anyone who can pull through this it is you, cause like someone said before, attitude is everything. What are the symptoms of colon cancer?
  20. Just wanted to post a pic of the fly I tied and framed for Brent(wickedcarpenter) for winning the 200K post contest before I send it to him. It's funny he won cause this fly was totally inspired by the crayfish he tied a while back.
  21. Check out a book by Barry Reynolds called "Mastering Pike on the Fly", it's got a good selection of good flies with pictures and recipes for them. Plus it's got a few tons of really great information on their behavior traits, habitat preferences, presentation tips, etc. There's just a whole lot of really good information in it. I got a 10wt this fall for pike and saltwater. I guess the local rivers and a few of the lakes have some gret pike/musky fishing and I plan on throwing some monster flies in the 12"-16" range. Then I wanna also have a descent selection of streamers i the 6"-10" range. Patterns will be stuff like bouface's, meat whistles, bunnyceivers, and divers. I'll tie them in pink/white, chartresue/red, yellow/red, black/red, purple/black and all white. Then some stuff to match baitfish. I got a bunch of unique hair and EP fibers too and want to tie a box of saltwater type flies. I also really like the looks of those foam head streamers. Not sure how'll they'll cast though, but they sure look cool
  22. I'm at work, but I've got the recipe at home. It was featured in one of the magazines last year, I wanna say Fly Fisherman or Fly Rod and Reel but it could have been Fly Fish America too , not sure of the month, but I do remember it. There was another fly featured with it in the same article. I keep every magazine and catalog I buy though and got the ability from my great grandpa to remember where I read about stuff If no one else helps you out before I get home I'll grab it and post a recipe for ya and a pic if I've got time.
