  1. I dont have a favorite hat. I actually never really started wearing a hat until this season because my head is really big so i could never find a hat i liked that fit. But at one of the fly fishing expo's i signed up for a magazine, and it was between a free hat or a free shirt with the subscription. I knew that the shirt wouldnt fit me so i picked the hat, and all it says is "Fly Fisherman" and thats what i've been using. But i'm looking into a newer hat.

  2. Hello everyone this is a great crayfish pattern.

    Hook:Mustad 33903 sizes 4-12.

Thread:Rusty orange, cream or brown in a 70 denier or 6/0.

Belly:Cream or pink body fur from a red fox with the underfur removed.

Back:Dark mottled red fur from the back or shoulders of a red fox with the underfur left in.

Flash:Sparse copper, mottled copper or rust-colored Flashabou.

    Eyes:Dumbbell eyes.

    1. First mount your hook into your vise and run your thread down to a little bit before the hook point.

    2. Run your thread back up to the first bump, and attach your eyes to the hook using figure 8 wraps and then going underneath the eyes, you could add some super glue to the eyes at this point if you would like.

    3. Take your first clump of fox hair in front of the eyes this piece is from the belly of the fox. This fur will be a lot lighter for the belly of the crayfish. Take out all of the underfur from the clump and tie it in. Then run your thread down to the point where you first stop the thread, then tie it down again, i like to whip finish my thread and tie it back in up front. You could add some glue to the thread if you would like.

4.Then either invert your hook in the vise or if you have a rotary vise you could just flip it around. This point your going to be adding your flash. Here is a rule of thumb i use for the flash, 2 strands for size 12, 4 strands for 10 and 8, 6 to 8 strands for size 6 and 4. Let the flash extend about 1/4-inch beyond the belly fur.

5.With your hook still inverted you are going to adding the back of the fly this fur comes from the back of the fox, it is much darker. With this piece dont take out the underfur. You want this to mat down and create a nice bulky body of a crayfish. Tie this piece only a little bit past the bend of the hook.

6.After this I like to make a nice little head, whip finish, and add some glue to the head.

  3. Okay everyone we gots a problem. We have one person that hasn't been on this website for over a month, and another person has not gotten in contact with me about their flies for a while either. So with the extra flies I've been thinking about putting one of each of the extras so there will be two extra group of flies. I would giving you each a number and then going onto a random number generator and that person would get the extra set, or everyone just gets 2 other random flies. If any of you have any other ideas give them to me. And we'll work it out.
