That's awesome! I love old war things because i like to see how things were done back then. My grandfather who passed away about 10 years ago at the age of 82, he was a cook during WWII. He was on duty cleaning the kitchen getting ready for the day when he saw the bombing at Pearl Harbor. They refused him to leave to go help. I have many of the letters he wrote to home. Tell your nephew good luck in his flying. I have a few friends that went to the Marines in August after High School.

I also love their product and customer service is great! The other day i was having problems with my lamp, i emailed then and in 1 day i got an email back asking for my address so they could send me a new light. Plus their product is fantastic. -
Are you saying like sizes 8,6,4,2's? Cause usually i use chenille on bigger sizes like those and around 10 and 12's and smaller i'll substitute the chenille for dubbing. But hey whatever works for you.

http://www.troutu.com/cumberland_river_kentucky http://www.perfectflystore.com/wcuberlandriver.html http://www.troutnut.com/topic/875/Cumberland-River-Tailwaters-Hatch-Chart Sounds like it could be some good fishing during the right seasons. Good luck.

What state is the river located?
-
Those look great!
-
You could always Google a hatch chart for that river. The hatch chart will tell you what hatches should be going on during that time of year. But sometimes depending variables change when certain flies actually hatch. When you do find a hatch chart it will tell you what flies are hatching such as "Midges" then you can go on Google again and search "Fly tying Midges" and will give you midges to tie. Also if there is a local fly shop around your area, just go in there and chew the fat with some of the guys in there, i'm sure you can find out info that way also.

I had a saddle hackle neck, and sold it for about $600. I sold it because i'm going to college and i need the money more than i need hackle.
-

Yup an Aussie who has been up here in Canoedlia for around 8 years now And who has been enjoying the amount of fly fishing! Yeah i heard you guys need a passport now!? Was up in Niagara Falls on the weekend playing texas hold em' and i noticed a rather large decline in Americans, i guess its also expensive now with the dollar, so it makes more sense for them to stay on the US side. Yep i think to get a passport now is about $150 (i could be wrong). I was gonna get one a few years ago so we could go on fishing trips to Canada but i was about 14, and once your turn 16 you need to get a new one. So i never did get around to it. I have always wanted too.
-
I'll let you know! You up in Canada eh? I'll have to get a passport first.

Looking good Jam! Those are some pigs! Looks like you have some good fishing there.

It is articulated if you look at the picture you can see the white in the hook eye. That is the connection between the two hooks where the tier probably tied off on top of the shank then put the connection through the eye and then tied off on the bottom of the shank. Makes your connection pretty bomb proof. Just look at different Step By Steps on how to do articulations and you'll soon get a technique you like. It's somewhat of a personal preference different people like to articulate their patterns differently.

I dont know diddly squat about furled leaders but i read somethings about it. Is the mono you're using strait from the spool? Maybe you should try straitening it first?
-
I've never had problems but i dont fly fish everyday for weeks strait. But i read somewhere that you should stretch you forearms and fingers before fishing, and stay on a regiment and you'll be fine.

Lucky i just stand out there with lint, getting outsmarted by the creatures with pea sized brains.

Well in order to host a swap you first have to be in 3 swaps that other people have hosted so you could get the hang of things. The contest thing it would be harder to get that many people into the contest.

Craft fur takes color very well. http://hatchesmagazine.com/blogs/Hatches/2010/01/15/the-chubby-muffin-by-nick-granato/ In this SBS Nick uses Sharpies to color the head of his chubby muffin sculpin which is a dubbing brush made of craft fur.

Its a flat braid, so it is thicker. In this video he uses the product your asking about.

Interesting, some guy on the local board was saying this is the best fishing he's had in 20 years due to all the weather and crazy stuff. But hey it happens to the best of us.
