  2. I dont really have interest in bigger flies but i was looking for some hooks and ran across some gamakatsu R18-b unfortunately only in size 10 for like 3.50 a pack. you guys think i should get some? i was thinking i could always try them for smallmouth or a heavy hopper or something. thanks
  3. I want to split some pearsall floss for tying. I split about 6 feet no problem, so I think I can split it in to 20' long pieces or so. But I dont have any empty spools. And the plastic sewing bobbins have a notch I dont want to run on my renzetti bobbin and score the spool holder. And ideas for spools to hold floss that's split into 6 or 9 strands?
  4. Lol. Lots of interesting responses. Yes I have been a long time interested in fly tying and tackle making and crappie jigs. I've been making custom crappie jigs and molds for over ten years. And have used flies and ice jigs without a fly rod or ice fishing for probable 20 years. I just adapt what's available for my purpose. I've noticed many a time that certain fish will only touch very small offering in pressures areas. Yes I need to get tying , I'm planning on it this winter. I'm just very inquisitive.
  5. I'm new. Haven't even started tying. I'm going to be tying small flies like daiichi 1110 24-26. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the ultra midge bobbin? I have the regular midge that I have not used yet. I'm trying to decide on getting another midge or the ultra?
  6. Who makes a good panfish popper? Or even a good bass popper
  7. Im mainly just starting to tie small flies 30-20. Would it be worth it to get some sort of midge whip finisher? I have a std whip finisher already
  8. I might have a line on some of this thread reasonably and in hard to find colors like red. Anyone else interested? Ill post after I get an order in . And shipping is only like $3
  9. Thanks guys, I got one ordered online for $10. Cant wait to get it
  10. Anyone have this book? Is it pretty good? Anyone have one they want to get rid of?
  11. Thanks, I got both 28s and 30 in the mail today. Lol. The place I got them didnt have size 26
  12. Thanks fin. I was wondering how small the gamakatsu 30 is but that pic helps
  13. Sorry for the mixup. I just started tying but I have been using daiichi 1110 hooks for ice jigs and just bare hooks so I have some around. I'm looking for a pic with a c12-bm next to another hook to see how small they actually are. Like say a c12-bm next to a size 20 dry fly or what ever you might have
  14. Anyone have any pics of a gamakatsu c12-bm compared to something else like a daiichi 1110 to get a size/scale comparison
  15. Anyone have any of these small hooks they'd part with?
  16. That bobbin do you guys like for small midges 26 an under? Anyone have experience with renzetti midge and ultra midge? And the rite shorty? I'm wondering how the tip diameters sizes compare?
  17. Ya I'm only looking at small and mini stackers
  18. Thanks all , I bought a dr. Slick small stacker. I'll get to play with it when it comes. Im sure I could do something with a 22 magnum case. I'm still really new and buying tools, and a vise.
  19. Any ideas on where to get the best price on a peak vise? I'm looking to get a vise and midge jaws [email protected]
  20. Does anyone have much experience with small hair stackers? Would a stainless stacker have less static problems than a brass one? Anyone have any idea of size diff between a stonfo mini and small dr. Slick?
  21. Hello all, im new here and never tied a single lure. I just made a mold for pouring jigheads and would like some help for tying them. I would like to tie them with the same material as lindy uses on ther quiver jigs which is listed as super-fine denier nylon. Its has a ton more movement than marabou. I also have no equipment and need to know what tools would make tying these easier other than a vise, bobbin, scissors. Hair stacker?
