  1. Being fortunate enough to live close to the man himself (Bob), we shared some lunch and I picked up a fantastic set of flies. It seems everyone involved in this swap got their flies in early and I was the last guy to the party. But, that meant I was first to see the whole collection and I can most assuredly say, every swapper will be delighted. Thanks again Bob for this annual tradition. Our prayers are with you and your lovely wife.
  2. Picked up flies today from the man himself... FishingBob! Just a simple, "Wow!" These flies look great, amazing work done by some incredible tiers. Bob, it was good to see you on the mend and feeling much better! Thanks for another amazing swap! It's something I look forward to every year!
  3. Had the double pleasure this morning of coffee with fishingbob and picking up a fantastic box of flies. Kudos to swapmeister Bob for another annual success, and kudos to the amazing tyers in this swap. Nicely done!
  4. LOL, that's funny! And yeah, why should I buy stamps when I can either drop the flies at Bob's house, or even better, enjoy great sushi, BBQ, Mexican, and a whole lot more while we laugh and tell hilarious fish "stories." Oh, and this Cali boy is originally an Okie. Born in Midwest City when my dad was stationed at Tinker. Small world.
  5. Had the privilege today of lunch with the man himself--THANKS Bob! We enjoyed classic fish, shrimp, and langostino tacos, plus I picked up a fantastic set of flies. Kudos to all! Again, another great swap!
  6. I just picked up yesterday's mail today, and woohoo! This is a fantastic set of flies. Great job by all tiers, and thanks DarrellP for hosting!
  7. Unlike the proverbial check, the flies are in the mail. The pattern is a March Brown Spider. From "The Soft-Hackled Fly and Tiny Soft Hackles" by Sylvester Nemes, here's the recipe (page 142): body: Mixed hair from hare's face rib: Narrow gold (small gold wire in this case) hackle: Brown partridge tying silk: Orange Enjoy!
  8. I'm in. Pattern TBD, but will be from "The Soft Hackled Fly and Tiny Soft Hackles" by Sylvester Nemes.
  9. Well, I just finished lunch with the man, the myth, the legend, fishingbob himself. I walked away with a great set of flies. And what can I say? Thank you, thank you, to Bob for being such a great swapmeister, and to each of you who tied for this swap. I am grateful and very much appreciate your kind words and care as our family is walking through some difficult waters right now. No better group of folks around! Simply amazing.
  10. Wow! MikeMac1 must be a true-to-life elf from Santa! I also received a mighty fine box from him. Thanks to MikeMac1 and vicrider. What a fun thing to do every year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
  11. Since I live almost around the corner from Bob and was able to pick up flies in person, I can certainly reassure all that this will be an impressive box of flies! Awesome work by so many fine tiers, and Bob has once again put together a fantastic swap--certainly worth looking forward to every year. Thanks, Bob!
  12. Package is winging its way to OK. Thanks for hosting!
  13. Ooooo, NICE package of flies arrived today. Thanks to all tiers, and thanks WWKimba for a great swap (and great idea). Tight lines!
  14. Killer bugs have bugged out of here. Should be there before the end of the week.
  15. My pattern is going to be Frank Sawyer's Killer Bug. And no, I don't have the original and authentic Chadwick's 477 yarn (uh, currently $207 for a single card! on ebay). However, I'll be using Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift in Oyster, which looks pretty good.
  16. I'm feeling pretty privileged. Because FishingBob and I don't live that far apart, the man himself delivered an awesome Christmas package to my house yesterday, including a box of flies that look fantastic. Great ties by one and all. Can't wait to get these wet. Thanks tyers, and thanks Bob for keeping this all together even while dealing with home flooding. Sheesh, who knew that fishing in your local waters meant standing in your living room? Happy Holidays!
