Flon, that's my primary mode all summer long. It was the backpacking that motivated me to investigate Tenkara. Glad you're in.

This is going to be a fun one. It'll be nice to get away from the standard trout line up. I've been wanting to try this style on a certain small brook trout stream. These flies should be sent back right around ice out. I'll be eagerly anticipating until then!FWIW, one of the first trips I did in the Sierras last year was to a new brookie spot and the Tenkara was perfect. You're really gonna be jones'n for the thaw

Oooh ooh! Pick me! Pick me! Over here! I love tenkara flies!I'll tie them Sakasa-Kebari- reverse hackle style.
Any particular size?
OK, OK, I'll pick you
You're in.
Most sizes are 14's and 12's. I'm finding I'm tying more 12's these days, so whatever you're comfortable with.

SWAP is FULL
Tenkara fishing is pretty simple and the flies aren't complex either, so how about a Tenkara swap? If you're not familiar with the flies, I have some links below. I did the majority of my fishing last year Tenkara style (haven't given up all Western style though) and have to say it was just downright fun.
Standard swap rules apply for the first twelve (well, including yours truly) to speak up:
- Self-addressed stamped envelope and toe tags on your flies to me
- Due date is March 11
I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on progress. When you've completed your flies, PM me and I'll send you my mailing address.
Have fun and keep 'em simple. Any style of Tenkara goes.

As for the swappers who made it in and the ones who will, you have a lot of extras, permission to bag em up and give them to a worthy cause?Devin,
Sounds like a great idea to me. Thanks!

Mike,
That is, without a doubt, one of the best materials lists I've ever seen. Kudos to you for taking the time to put it together. That was no quick reply answer. I hope others realize what a great resource this is!

Devin, need your addy. Tenkara-style blues are ready for travel. Thanks!

And mine arrived too. Thanks to all. What a sweet set!

Good choice John. I was thinking of that one myself. I'm excited about seeing this fly. Thanks, and yeah these will be fun. I've done up some Light Hendricksons and Quill Gordons for past swaps, so I'm planning on adding to my arsenal

Wow, boynabubble and fishingbob are already done. You guys are quick! I'm just now getting around to deciding (I think 'cause there are just so many good ones to choose from). I'm in with a Cross Special.
This is already looking to be one fine set of flies from a fine group of tiers.

X-Caddis are winging their way to you now
John

Rich,
Need you to PM your addy. X-Caddis are just waiting to take off.
John

Rich,
It's gonna be a #16 X-Caddis for me. OldHat turned me on to this fly earlier this year, and it's been a go-to all summer. Had a day of non-stop action on Saturday using just this one fly :-)
