  1. Is that 12th spot still available? If so I will take it! John
  2. Penguins are coming in HOT! They have been scoring in bunches and Fleury has been playing well in goal. Detroit is pretty beat up right now, but they do have unlimited depth. Should be a great series. Pens win the cup in 6 games. John
  3. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by JoJoPro: Penguin Eggs As in the repeating Eastern Conference Champion Pittsburgh Penguins! :headbang: I had heard that studies had shown that trout/salmonids preferred multicolored eggs over single colored ones, and that yellow and black was the most preferred color scheme. John
  4. Simple and effective pattern...San Juan Worm. I like this adaptation tied by Fishyfranky. Earthworm John
  5. Great thread you've started here Horseshoes. When I tie I'm always trying to look beyond what I'm seeing at the vise and instead imagine how it will look to the fish. Letumgo, you're ties and photography of them rock! :headbang: Very nice! John
  6. Sweet ties! I'm sure those would drive the smallmouth bass crazy! Thanks for sharing. John
  7. Excellent looking bait-fish imitation John! With those materials I'm sure it has great movement in the water as well. That is a for sure fish catching pattern there. Thank you for sharing it. John
  8. Michael, all of the flies that you have pictured here and submitted into the 'Fly Pattern Database' look awesome! Thank you so much for sharing them and for taking the time to post step-by-step photos. Your fine work is much appreciated! John
  9. Hello everyone! I've been visiting this site from time to time for over a year now and figured I'd finally get registered and attempt to contribute a bit. I've been tying flies and jigs for about a year now and really enjoy it. I live in N.E. Ohio, towards the western end of 'Steelhead Alley', so I spend most of the year on the Lake Erie tribs chasing steel. During the warmer months when the steel have left I still fish the tribs for smallmouth, carp, and catfish. I've never actually fished with a fly rod, but instead use a centerpin reel on a float rod. I love seeing all of your original or modified patterns, and I look forward to sharing some of my own creations. Until then, take care. John
