One of the best all around tyer's has to be Charlie Craven. For deer hair work, Tim England is the Master!! -

I've been tying a pattern like the pictured. Its hard to tell what material they are using for the main part of the body, but the pattern is pretty easy to tie. Tail.... marabou or dyed grizzly marabou and add some flash if you like. Body...... Wooly bugger Chennille for main part of the body and micro or standard size Ultra Chennille for over and under the body, colors your choice to match the Minnow. I like to wrap 10 - 15 turns of lead wire on the hook first. 3-D eyes 3-4 x long hook, I like straight eye hooks Hope this helps Dennis

Charlie Craven show me his method for making dubbing . He takes a Ziploc bag and pokes a few small holes in it with the tips of his scissors. Next you cut all the hair off between the eyes from forehead to the tip of the nose, and put in the bag. Then you take a can of air and put the nozzle in a corner of the bag and seal it tight to the nozzle. Hold the bag around the opening where the nozzle goes into the bag and give it a shot of air. You now have a bag of dubbing. You can use this method for making all kinds of dubbing.

This is a must have book for both stillwater and stream fishing. There are about 1000 midge patterns in the book from all over the world. The book retails for $39.95 and you can get it for less on Amazon.com.

Here are some of the things you can use to coat your buzzers. Sally Hansen hard as nails..... two coats looks best. Hard as Hulls.........two coats Loon UV clear fly finish.......... I use this the most. Liquid Fusion............. It say's it's fast drying , but I have found that you need to put it on in very thin coats or it will drip. For pattern's..... there is a new book out called Modern Midges by Rick Takahashi and Jerry Hubka......It has 1,000 midge pattern's in it.
