  1. This is a crayfish pattern that I make that has been successful for me. Fairly simple to tie with just enough sparkle to get the attention of smallies and carp. I tie it in crayfish orange and olive. Sixe 6 streamer hook, small lead eyes, extra lead wraps, estaz underbody, pine squirrel claws, and swiss straw for the shell casing held down with wire. ...
  2. thanks all...I bought some saddles from a discount bin at a show through Keough...
  3. These are a group of divers that I just made for a friend of mine that guides Pike in Finland. 4/0 Gamakatsu saltwater hooks, they are all about 7 inches long....
  4. Hairstacker.....On the money buddy....Most people miss use the terms while describing the techniques...Using a hair stacker to even out tips and stacking a bass bug are two separate things...
  5. Some recent flies....currently in the mail to their new home....
  6. I have the honor of owning one of these fine flies...It is on my wall and has never been wet..Great fly..
  7. I wonder what a unicorn would taste like.... The wool is nothing special, just sculpin wool...I use it like I use deer hair and stack it, pack it and trim it...
  8. thanks everyone...NJ...I will have them at Somerset for you to check out..I will be there Saturday and Sunday in the tiers row...
  9. These are a wool baitfish pattern with cone heads and a fly lipp that I have been playing around with. Preliminary testing says they will rock the socks of the smallies...Let me know what you all think....
  10. thanks all....yeah the hook rides point up....and yes, I put the fins on after trimming....I use zap a gap and have never had trouble with them falling off....All flies get beat up after a being gnawed on for a while though...cheers...
  11. Hey Vegas...This is the fly I was talking about. I tie it with a deer hair head..Weighted yellow dumbell eyes...The tail is olive rabbir with tan/white/red bucktail for the belly with a little flash....The fins are pheasant...The hook is a 1/0 Mustad 34007....This fly has been killer for me on smallies....
  12. thanks all....Mr. Vegas...I have a sculpin pattern that I make from deer hair....You can make the same kind of fly as the zoo cougar with olives on top, creams on the bottom, barred wood duck and olive rabbit as the tail. I put a little red on the under belly and I use those brown/cream pheasant feathers as fins. I tie the pattern upside down so the hook point rides up and I use red or yellow dumbell eyes to weight the head. You can stack the hair right over it....If I have time I'll post one up for you to check out....
  13. These are some of my favorite flies to throw when the smallies want to eat off the top....Tied on a 1/0 Mustad 34007 hook.... The big yellow looking one is a variation of muddler/zoo cougar tied with a rabbit strip tail that I use a lot for pickerel....
  14. When you tie the hair down you stated that you tie it in close to the butts...When you stack or spin your hair should be split in the middle by your thread, then compressed and flared...Some pics of your finished flies would be helpful as well...
  15. nice looking fly...you could use some jungle cock spikes for eyes on it...
  16. I do sell some flies...contact me by pm if interested...I wouldn't be able to sell any until after the Somerset show...These are all accounted for already....Thanks..Pat
  17. thanks all...and yes...The Fly Fishing Show..I will be tying there Saturday and Sunday...Stop by and say hello...
  18. Just finished my Punk Rockers for Somerset....Huge amount of work...but they are fun and seem to be a big hit at the shows...
  19. haha...thanks Bruce....that really is the point...deer hair is the bomb....there are a ton of different techniques to utilize...you need to find a method that works for you....and run with it....and Mike...your flies kick ass for the record...
  20. Mike...If you put enough hair on the bottom of the hook and spread it evenly as you flair it, why stack hair on the sides...I find it to be unnecessary....That's just my humble opinion...The backs of my divers are very full and dense as well....If you want to continue multiple stacks to the front of the hook, one way to ensure getting the thread down is to make smaller stacks...You can still have the detail, but it will be tighter together...
  21. beautiful fly man....I've been playing with these a bit lately...they are actually quite difficult to get down....very impressive...
