  1. Consider who will be around to service the vise you choose. When you said you would 'never have to replace', that could be a long, long time! I would get the Master in a heartbeat if price was of no concern. Every option too! It's not just a good vise, it's the benchmark all other are compared to.
  2. Send it back? Nope, though I'm sure Renz would service the heck out of me, I'm a tinkerer and love messing around with my gear. I just need to know how the actuator support is adjusted. The manual tells, but mine just won't budge.
  3. I have an older Renzetti Presentation that has a little end play. The bent shaft moves ever-so slightly axially. It is a small amount of slop but it just bugs me. Reading the directions this can be caused by wear or when it is disassembled for cleaning. It is supposedly eliminated by adjusting the 'actuator support'. I took of the Phillips end screw, end cap and rotary actuator, backed out the 3/32" Allen screw from inside and am now stuck. The actuator support will not budge. I spoke with Mr. Renzetti Friday and he said the actuator support is threaded. Couldn't prove that by me. It is so tight my guess is that it is welded! The soft brass and aluminum those parts are made of don't take kindly to pliers, Channel-Locks, Vise-Grips or pipe wrenches I would imagine. I need to fix that play. If anyone has been successful in eliminating that end play, please send advice. Thanks, Jack
  4. It looks to be a destination magazine, not a fly tying magazine.
  5. It broke my heart reading the Ausable article yesterday at lunch. That river system was my old whompin' stompin' ground. The writer nailed everything he wrote about it. Sigh....
  6. One question... Where does lead come from?

  9. Try using those sinking X's on bream and bass... killer with a slow strip!
  10. Google up; Pentax WR-33. If it isn't yet, it should be the standard camera supplied to fly fishers. On top of giving fine macro shots, it's small, water resistant and as easy or complex as you want to make it. Since Pentax has already upgraded it to the WR-44, the 33 might just fall in your price range. If you just tie and don't fish it's hard to miss with any digital as long as it has a macro feature or as long as you have good editing software. Good hunting, Bud!
  11. There could be a clue in that handle of yours... 'Goat'boy? Ever been to Shady Valley?
  12. My kid gave me a nice bodkin for Christmas last year and during the year she managed to bend the very tip of it somehow. It is now one of the most useful tools on my bench! I can do everything I always did with it, like clean eyes out, but the tiny hook on the end is VERY handy for things like picking stray hairs out finish wraps and plucking loose deer hair out of hair stackers. I also find myself using it for undoing the half-hitches I use when messing up something tied rotary.

    Ever wonder?

I think it just sounds cooler to say 25 dozen rather than 300! Personally, the only thing I tied 25 dozen of was my shoelaces, and that was before Velcro!
  14. As the new owner of a Twin Bridges rod making shop who takes the company away from new-age 'biz think' and sets it back on its roots as an uncompromising company who builds the finest American rods they can and while heeding the wishes of its clientele. Then I woke up!
  15. Is there a site that shows the Dremel technique? It sounds interesting way to build a bug.
  16. Welcome FlygURL! I post on NGTO sometimes. I sent the link to Caleb's winning fly on there from here. You also asked me about some pictures I posted over there. Looking for ward to meeting you and some of the gang at NG sometimes. If you make it to the Charlotte show this month... look me up. I'll probably be hanging around the High Country booth. Best, Jack

QUOTE (Peddler @ Jan 29 2005, 03:19 PM) Clothes dryer fabric sheets and anti-static sprays all come in handy when handling hair and fur. How do I know? None in the house!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr...
