  1. I put 30 minute epoxy on with a toothpick then stick it on a drying wheel. Works for me.
  2. Really? We are going to do this?
  3. I just picked up a package of Yuri Shumakov's bottle tubes. I will be trying them as soon as I get the new head for my vise. These things look good but I wished I had bought the skittle tubes and the long range tubes. This is a system I really want to try. Here is the low down, tie your pattern on the plastic insert and slide a skittle tube over the back of the fly and secure with the juction tube and hook. When you want a fly that doesn't sink as fast, just put the long range tube over the plastic insert instead of the skittle tube. There are all sorts of variables like brass and aluminum with or without tube slots that can be painted to give your fly more zip. Sound complicated but it isn't. Check it out... Skittle tubes For you guys that haven't really looked into tubes, check this out...Neato tube flies How cool does the spinner flies look? Just think a spinner blade tube clouser!!!
  4. That's pretty cool. If I were a bass....
  5. Does anybody know of nice apartments within a 30 minutes drive to NAS North Island? Thanks.
  6. Very nice!!! I like it alot. I may have to poach that thing for myself.
  7. That's more bass than I caught this past year! I haven't really had the chance to bass hunt with all the moving and work and....well you get the idea. Looks like fun and I'm jealous! That's the one thing bad about living here. Sure there are plenty of specks and reds around but you need a boat to get to the good bass grounds. And no, a float tube is waaaaay out, there are gators in the creeks and ponds! I miss the smell of bass on my fingers.

It's worth the $20. I concidered myself a fair hair spinner. I can tie a decent fly but nothing museum quality. I generally can get even bands I just have trouble with consistancy and density. I picked up so many little tricks it's hard to tell you what I've added. I will tell you one of the things he talked me into buying was the Cermag Rite bobbin...although he didn't have to work hard at it, I've wanted one for a while now. This thing rocks for deer hair work. The drag setting is super consistant and smooth, I just may have to get rid of the four Tiemco bobbins I have now and replace them with a couple of regular Rites. Anyway on to the photos. The first one I tied about a month ago. Nothing special just a base line. The second one is the after "Chris" fly. Much nicer although I still need to put more hair on the hook. This fly was tied with my old hair so I could practice more and save the good stuff when I get better. Sorry for the bad photos, I'm working on that too!
  9. I just got my order fom Whitetail Fly Tieing Supplies to today and I am so pumped. I ordered a video, a Rite bobbin and six different colors of deer hair. The hair I recieved was way better than the crap I have been using. Chris by the way is the nicest guy I have ever dealt with. He took the time to help me eith what I needed rather than just fill an order. He actually talked me out of some stuff I thought I needed. What a gentleman. He even tied a sweet little Tap's bug for me to use a reference!!! If you haven't already done bussiness with him then you need to fix that. Needless to say, I will be watching the video and tying a few flies today. As soon as I tie some flies worth showing off I will.
  10. day5, Do you intend the fly to be fished with a juction tube?

I have a few that look very similar. They are murder on smallies. Looks great!
  12. I love you set up. It sure beats my tying in the floor on plastic storage crates. I can't wait till I move so I can set something like that up. Nice vise too!
  13. dead horse, I think that one was a size 6 Owner light Mutu circle hook. I tied it for specks but I've found it works better for ladyfish. Early in the morning the ladies are busy crashing small bait balls and all I do is just drop it on the boils and away we go! Man they crash the snot out of 'um. I will be getting two new sinking lines and an extra spool for Christmas this year so I will be fishing these steamers a little deeper than I am now. I hope for even better results!
  14. Yup, any trout fly will do the trick. I like to stick with classic ties suck as an adams or royal coachman tied in a size 10 or 12.
  15. On all of my trout flies I like to use turkey flats for the wings. I tie them in a post instead of dividing the wings. I was lucky enough to find some turkey flats in florescent orange, pink and yellow. Makes great easy to see flies in all conditions.
  16. Thanks for the feedback guys, the head is a buildup of ultra thread 70 with vinyl eyes stuck too it then epoxied. The body is hologram tinsel, the underwing is buck tail and the overwing is a couple of different saddle hackles light to dark. That particular fly was tied on an Owner light Mutu hook.
  17. Sorry for the bad pick but I just wanted to show my streamer.
  18. Tightlines is a great shop. Every time I'm in Depere I go by. I can't wait to see their new store.
  19. It's still in the upper 70's here so that's good, but I don't have time to fish and that's bad.
  20. I like to set the vise back a bit so I can rest my arms on the table for fine work. If you watch me try to hold my hands steady you'll understand. The base mounts give you more options. Plus, I have never had any stability problem and I tie mostly bass and salt stuff.
  21. Man those looks great. Nice work.
  22. Army, a fly like that worked very well for me on the Port Mansfield Jetties. I was catching mostly snapper. Oh how I miss those jetties. Ever make it down there?
  23. Funny you should ask...I will be in Wisconsin in a couple of weeks to kill me a few. They are VERY hard to skin. The Gordon I hunt over likes to hide them after I shoot them, but for me, there is nothing I would rather hunt.
