  1. Nice fly, still wanting to know the "reason" behind the name. Or as Jackie Gleason said, " That boy, was an attention getter" LOL, :lol2:
  2. Well thats the beauty of it, some places the bluegills arent really picky. Just about any small dry fly or nymph that you would use for trout will work just as well for bluegills. Hares ear nymph, prince nymphs maybe some scuds would be a good starter. Maybe use them as a dropper under a dry. For the bigger ones that we target down in the south, we usually use woolly worms and small buggers too. You'' just have to try your waters and see what they will hit the best. Hope this helped. Good Luck and have fun!!!!!
  3. [/b][/color]Just how "New" are you? More in the reference to tieing that is. Dont be afraid to ask, this is a great website with a lot of helpful folks who will go out of thier way to help out!!
  4. I would have to say a bunch of bluegills are running this pond, but thats the beauty of finding these little hidin' honey holes. I hope it produces for you! I would have to agree with all the flies everyone has mentioned.....but would add a #10 Olive wooley bugger to see if any bass are hiding in there! Good luck!
  5. Nice lookin fly, if the gills don't chase it....I am sure the bass will.
  6. when the heat kicks on here, we usually went to a weighted wooly worm or beaded nymphs. Early morning was the best and usually tappered off round about 10 in the morning.
  7. Looks like that'll get em. What are you using for the shell? Good luck with them gills.
  8. Hey! First off, the Genesis rods are a good deal for the price. As for the size, thats your choice. If its just for bass go for the 8 wt. I was stationed in Texas and was using a 6 wt for bass, gills and trout. The good deal with these rods is that Cabelas has a warranty on them for like 2 years. I broke mine on the Guadalupe and they rushed me the replacement (rod tip broke on me) Luckily I had my back up with me. As for the kit, its great for starting out on, and Jack Dennis' videos are always helpful. If you do decide to put your own together, make sure to include a video. It really helps you advance, plus there are tons of good people on this sight to help out as well! Enjoy!
  9. Thanks for all the advice...sorry it took so long. I finally got it to work and they came out great. Hopefully I'll be able to get some picts together in the near future
  10. Alright, i have the chart and all, but is there a special way you have to put these little babies on? Any tricks or tips would be appreciated!!!!
  11. Iraq, I am in the Killeen area. Yeah, this site is the best I have seen. A lot of good info and tips.
  12. Thanks, The White bass were shaking about 4 to 6 of these out of thier mouths when we got them into the boat. I was able to get them to strike a wooley bugger though. I had originally thought they were chasing the shad.
  13. Hello! I know it has taken me a while to post here, but hey....the fish were bitin! Somewhat new to fly tying....only have been doing it for a couple of years and always looking for new tricks and tips. Currently in the military and have just gotten back. Thanks for the great site and hopefully I'll see ya'll out on the water!
  14. Sorry, my cam is toast after several storms blew thru!!! We where out on Belton lake(central Texas) and the White Bass were boiling the water after these nymphs. They are white in color, about an inch and a half in length. There was a Whitefly hatch this weekend, but can these be the same nymphs? The whiteflies are only about a quarter of an inch after they hatch? Any help would be appr!!
