  1. I do,I use them for heads on saltwater flies, small eggs, caddis bodies and anything were I might use epoxy. Ashley
  2. You don't need to bleach deer hair for white. You'll find it on the belly of the deer. Otherwise normal hair bleach in the hair care range should lighten it but you won't get pure white.
  3. Mine arrived a couple of days ago. Very impressed with the results of strange stuff the turns up in the mail. Thanks to Kerry for doing this. Wonder what he'll come up with next......
  4. I don't mind waiting,then I get the complete set.
  5. Glad they made it, thought they'd gone missing.
  6. I can beat that (sorry no pic),imagine the other side of the room as having enough space for a tying table with shelves, well thats what I had before the divorce.
  7. I'll be finishing tonight. So the flies should be in mail in the next couple of days.
  8. Its hard to vote what I use the most. So went for the with hackle of some kind, does a hackle of marabou count? this year I was mostly using Beastmasters (small), with clousers pretty close. Ashley
  9. Have you tried a garden center? Thats where I get mine from. It comes in big buddles for tying up plants like tomatoes. If you cann't get any PM me. Ashley
  10. Mine arrived earlier. I got no idea yet what I'm going to do.
  11. I mostly use UTC or uni,for saltwater or other big stuff I like invisible thread from the craft shop because it pretty cheap and nice big spools. Ashley

  15. I collect alot of my own feathers and fur from various sources. All I do when I get them home is skin the animal if its whole, the next I wash the skins or feathers if its just that. The skin is dried in saw dust then pinned on a board, now I scrape any fat/meat of and cover with borax. Thats the basic version for better instructions see 'From field to fly' by Scott J.Seymour. Ashley
  16. Long, long ago in a far away time I did these swaps and had a lot of fun,so if you got space can you count me in. Ashley
  17. . or i could just go up to the door and ask for some theres an alpaca farm near me and I did this and it worked all they asked for was a small donation. So far I've got some brown and white.
  18. Grey Squirral fur,I pick alot of the road and shoot the odd one, when tied in it looks like hares mask but I find it easier to get. Also like marabou, deer hair and duck flank.

    Flytyer Magazine

    n. The word she has through her distributor is that Fly Tyer is ONE year only subscriptions, new or renewal and you have to be careful of some of them. Just fair warning guys. Fatman I've been able to get 2 years subscriptions direct from the Flytyer people (I phoned the number in the magazine but can only get 1 year if done over the net).
  20. I find I only need three for dry flies-dark ginger variant (basically a brown grizzly),grizzly and pale dun.For salt mainly white, but some black, olive and chartruse and just black, claret, olive and brown for my Irish wet flies.
  21. Mike, From my understanding there is a law that says we cann't have owl in this country because they're protected but if they're from very old stock..... Ashley
  22. I do the odd swap but my problem (one I don't mind) is that I keep tying for others either to swap for materials or cash or mostlt cos I feel like it!Experimentation also happens. All I done for my box is 1/2 a dozen. Ashley
  23. I like hen pheasant neck, english and french partridge and snipe.Sometimes woodcock and moorhen as well. Ashley
  24. I plan on spending more time on the water and not to leave furry things in the freezer more than 2 months. Ashley
