  1. Awesome tie. Cook me up some oysters and eat them for me bro. :yahoo:
  2. Nice and full. I like it. Great job :yahoo:
  3. And that is why pro photographers spend a mint on things called a spyder to calibrate all there monitors so everything they look at looks the same. LOL If we were all made of money the things we could do.
  4. Sounds like it is the hard drive. There are not a lot of moving parts that can make noise in a laptop there is the hard drive (unless it is SSD) and there are fans other than that nothing should make noise at all (except the speaker).
  5. Well just remember that when you spend money on fly tying stuff to buy a flower or two as well. Maybe a box of chocolate if you have spent a lot. LOL
  6. I wrote up instructions here: http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=55331&hl=
  7. Zap is cool stuff for sure. I say if you feeling artistic go for it. Lets see what you have in you. You can always go back to more classic stuff to work on technique if you want. Why does your wife think fly tying is bad? That is so weird, you have to explain how much trouble your staying out of by sitting at a desk tying.
  8. I like both pics however I would have removed a bit more of the vignette in the second one. It IMHO is still too present. I think if your going to use it, it has to be so subtle that you don't really notice it is there just that you know you like how it pulls the eye to the detail of the pic. Like a girl learning to use make up, their mom (if the mom knows better) will tell them the point of make up is to look like you have no make up on at all.
  9. Quick question alex what is the white marble looking pic with the red and blue vain in it. I just don't know what it is but I am very curious.
  10. Personally I would just pick up some uv cureable stuff like bug bond or clear cure goo or loons. Any of those would do a great job of fixing the eyes permanently and it make flat eyeys look like the more expensive 3d eyes. Go to clear cure goo's website they have some great videos of this very technique.
  11. Yeah a SBS would be great on this pattern!
  12. I don't use them either. If they are used I agree with you, you have to be very subtle. It is like knowing how much material to tie on for a tail take half of what you think you need and cut it in half again and you still probably have too much. LOL
  13. Very very nice. What length lens are you using? How close were you to those? The duck I think is my favorite. The colors are amazing and set against the dark water is just jaw dropping gorgeous. Great job :yahoo:
  14. The first shot is great I think I will still it for my background on my computer I really like it.
  15. I wonder if the fly tying club I attend would like to participate by having a tie in at the same time and donate the flies as well. It might be a good marketing tool for the club.
  16. I have been eyeing a grab bag of feathers for a while. I just don't know if I will use all the ones I would end up with. I think I am goign to try an order from fly tyer dungeon he has some hackles on there for a decent price and I think it might be better to get the colors and patterns I am most likely to use. I say that but everytime I am in cabellas or bass pro I always look at that grab bag. I might just pick one up so I at least have a variety of stuff even if I don't use it all. I did buy a bucktail one also and was very impressed with the amount of material I ended up with and the variety of colors. It was well worth the investment. So maybe I would be as happy with the feather bag. :dunno:
  17. That is really cool looking. How did you get the finish to look like that. I love it.
  18. That is awesome. I don't have a lot of people around here in Nebraska to tie with but there is a club that meets at cabellas every week on Thursdays but I don't make it every week. I need to get back out there. Take some pics of the class and what your teaching I would like to see how my progression stacks up against newbies since I have only been tying to 4 months or so now.
  19. Great job. I would like to see the real colors.
  20. Great thread. Now if only someone would do a SBS or a really good video of hair stacking.
  21. Awesome, you should see if you can set up a video camera if you have access to one. It would be nice to see some clips of it.
  22. I am sure you will do great. Don't get too nervous and make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before. Make sure you schedule break times since it is going to be such a long tying session. Most of all have fun!!! :yahoo:
