  1. I fished SE Minnesota for years. Best stream is the South Branch of the Root River. Near Preston, MN. Although, they had bad floods there last year. Its not too far from Rochester, MN.
  2. Good choice. I've been using iphone since they first came out. Wonderful devices!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I just bought my second Fishpond vest. First one was stollen in Yellowstone Park. I've used a lot of vests, but Fishpond is the best thought out one I have seen or tried. I forget the model name, but I think it was the one for 169. Very nice. Even has built-in hand warmer pockets. Guess it is a Marabou model vest.
  4. Mr. Dieter: Could you check my photos in the post about receiving dubbing material from the Dungeon? I'm trying to take decent pics of flies. Critique would be helpful. "flyfishing99" Thanks
  5. Hi, I've been fishing this soft hackle pattern for many years and it really is a high producer under almost any conditions. I normally use dubbing which I blend myself from a product called Dazzleaire. Thought I would try using Orvis' Ice Dubbing. It looks quite different using this material. This is the same pattern with my blend of dubbing.
  6. As I understand it, he and Jason are working on a multi, multi book series to cover everything in fly fishing.....................
  7. Good idea. I just did that. Good idea. Will include a photo of a BWO I tied this morning using skeeter fuzz
  8. As I said in an earlier post, my order was so long ago, I don't recall what I ordered! Plus, most pkgs not identified. I think it was their fine dry fly dubbing
  9. Hi, I got my order of dubbing from the Dungeon yesterday. Gave it a shot today and it seems to work really nice. What do you think. By the way, trying to tie a blue winged olive dry. Thanks, Byron \
  10. Most of it was in unmarked packages................
  11. I think this is a funny story: A few weeks ago, I ordered a bunch of dubbing from the Dungeon guys. I got a bunch of material from them today. It all looks very good. My problem is that I can't recall just what I ordered anymore.......
  12. Guy above would probably say they were born into it....
  13. There are a few places where you can do some bonefishing. Protected shallow reef areas. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of such fly fishing. I like my streams.
  14. Planettrout: The white at the bottom of a chironomid is NOT a trailing shuck! They are gill like "feathers" at the anus of the insect. Sort of like a "tail"
  15. I think you're correct!!! I will try that in the future. However, I sometimes post a photo of some variation I've tied and ask the community if they think it will work for the insect/hatch intended. Thus, can't give a report on such posts...............until later.
  16. That is a very good question!!!!! I will tell you this, I posted some pictures of variations on a Zebra Midge. I can tell you that I fished a Zebra Midge a few weeks ago in a Missouri stream and caught many fish. Granted, the posts I put up were some variations on the standard pattern which I intend to try next outing. Problem is: I think we have more time tying than we get on the stream. Therefore, we probably tie more patterns than we have an opportunity to fish. The stream dictates what will work; i.e., insect hatches (or lack of them), weather conditions, etc. We tiers tend to over prepare for fishing trips and, I believe, prepare many more patterns than we will actually be able to fish..............
  17. I will try that. The back end looks a little like ice dubbing?
  18. Jay, I really like that one!!!! Thanks, Byron
  19. Jay, I really like that one of yours. Could you mention the body and ribbing? Thanks, Byron PS Ever put a little tail on it?
  20. Thanks, Sorry I couldn't get better pics with the cam. But you can get the concept. Also, I'm a big fan of the Rojo and other midges tyed with gills in front of beads. Again, Please keep us updated on how your pattern fishes. Will do. Here's a different version as well. If you look at photos of the chrimonoid, you see wing buds beneath the pupa and the segmentation seems to be copper in color. I know it depends on the stage of the pupa as to it's hemoglobin content, etc.....
  21. Thanks for the photos NJ Man!!! Great minds work alike Nice flies too!!!!
  22. Will do. How about a picture of your modification of the Zebra?
