  1. Nice! This means you are a closet fly-tyer?
  2. Very nice, and well thought out!
  3. Thanks, Ron. That makes sense, as there are a couple of inconsistencies that make me believe the drawers were an afterthought (e.g., the bottom of the top drawer is poplar, while the bottom of the other drawer is pressboard).
  4. I won this fly tying bench at my club's raffle. It is solid 3/4 oak and is designed to be portable. The top can detach from the base and the bottom has two drawers with ample storage. The unit has handles for carrying and the vise rest can fold down flat. Has anyone seen anything like this one before? The winning ticket was $2, but I spent $10 total!
  5. If you can catch fish on flies that you have tied, you are an expert!
  6. Remember when L.L. Bean sold fly fishing gear?
  7. I can't believe how much old stuff I have...
  8. Weber fly line floatant, from the late '70s.
  9. The bottle of Tums is for spinning deer hair, right? Ha! Very nice work area!
  10. Yes, we think alike! I already have a fly tying bench that fits nicely on top. My desk looks remarkably similar to this commercially-available fly tying desk, although I plan on using mine indoors.
  11. I acquired this desk at a surplus sale for $25. I believe it was a typewriter desk from the late '40s or '50s. The legs are quartersawn oak and the top is laminate. I think it will make a great fly tying desk!
  12. This is a good fly tying reference: Flies for Bass and Panfish. I have it and I do recommend it.
