  2. Might I suggest that you join the Hellgrammite Swap that I am currently hosting? You can find it under the "fly swaps" section of this site.... -Forrest

  7. This morning I got up and tied up flies for the Feb Swap Club and the Pike Fly Swap. Usually this one likes to lay in bed with her "mom", but she has decided to take up a spot in the sun in her own bed. She is an Italian Greyhound. I am not sure what our lives would be like without her. I raised hunting dogs all my life, but this is the most loyal pup I have ever owned. My tying bench is about 10 feet away from this spot... -Forrest
  8. Here is the fly I am submitting for the swap. I am not sure of the name, and neither was the local that showed it to me. Hook: 1/0 Large gape mustad Tail: Pearl Flash and bright green hackle feathers Body: 2 pieces of marabou (one mounted on top and one on bottom) and one or two large hackles Resized to 94% (was 1024 x 768) - Click image to enlarge Resized to 94% (was 1024 x 768) - Click image to enlarge -Forrest
  9. Here is the fly I am submitting for the swap. I am not sure of the name, and neither was the local that showed it to me. Hook: 1/0 Large gape mustad Tail: Pearl Flash and bright green hackle feathers Body: 2 pieces of marabou (one mounted on top and one on bottome) and one or two large hackles Length is 4" to 4.5" so it is not a huge fly, but with the tail flaring like it does it has a large profile in the water. -Forrest
  10. My fly will be a black on black foam spider in size 10. -Forrest
  11. This is the fly that I sent in for February. A version of the Green Weenie, taken by gills as a waxworm, I assume. Whatever they think it is, it works! Size 10 - 14 1XL nymph hook Chartreuse Chenille Bead to fit hook -Forrest
  12. I will play! Pattern TBD. -Forrest
  13. Confirming that I am indeed IN! -Forrest
  14. I would probably participate as long as there is like an end of march due date..... -Forrest
  15. Can you count me in? I've been looking at Dougherty's Hellgramaniac which is a Dobson nymph. Jimboha Jim, you are in with Dougherty's Hellgramaniac! -Forrest
  16. Have you heard anything from Margaretann? -Forrest
  17. I second the Hellgrammite swap, since I am hosting it. I do alot of swaps on here as a way to better my skills. I even just finished up a saltwater swap even though I live on the great lakes. So, you are invited to join my swap if you would like. What do you think? Once you do three swaps you can host your own..... -Forrest
  18. I sat down this morning and finished my flies for the swap. I had a hard time locating stainless hooks, but found them at Gander Mountain finally. I have never fished the flats, but Bob Clouser had these color combinations on his website under saltwater flies so I hope they work! I have never used circle hooks before, but I think I will try these out for smallies! -Forrest
  19. Easternfly and heavynets you guys are in! -Forrest
  20. If it is a dry fly, you will have to pay the money for the dry fly hackle. Keep in mind you could buy a cape, which would allow you a wider range of sizes. -Forrest
  21. Rich, See you there. I just woke up and was thirsty so I sat down with a glass of water and opened up the computer for a minute. I have to bail out of the show early as my wife and I are looking at houses, but I will be there until about lunch time. -Forrest
  22. I started tying mine today, but then realized that I should probably use stainless hooks. I will try and correct that over the weekend then get on these. -Forrest
  23. Hey guys/gals, If someone sees this please send me Breambuster's address so I can send him the flies today. There is a huge snowstorm in Chicago and I want to make sure these go out today. Thanks in advance for your help! -Forrest
  24. Thanks, I will put you on the post on the first post of this thread. If your pattern has a name, please post it here. You do not need to get approval. Is this your first swap? If so, please send me a private message and I can describe the rules and answer any questions you may have. Thanks for joining! -Forrest
