  1. Sometimes you just need a couple of patterns on the wall for inspiration in the winter darkness. The Green Highlander & Jock Scott are two of my favourite patterns and I found a perfect frame for this set.
  2. Very nice. For bass, pike? Thanks! These are mainly for trout, but I also bring some when I go fishing along the coast here in Norway. Amazing, we, or I guess I, don't normally think of something like that when I think "Trout Fly". Um, big browns? Yes, targeting the really big ones in May when the fishing starts! But I also use these fishing saltwater on the westcoast of Norway for seatrout, cod or pollock
  3. Very nice. For bass, pike? Thanks! These are mainly for trout, but I also bring some when I go fishing along the coast here in Norway.
  4. Winter is here, and 2019 will include some more streamer fishing, so I needed to start on a new box! Here is a set of Sid tied on Ahrex http://flyhooks.org/ahrex/tp650 #1/0 as front hook and http://flyhooks.org/ahrex/tp610 #1 as rear hook
  5. Outstanding as ever. Kimo Thanks Kimo!
  6. You can also go to http://flyhooks.org/search and search on "Hook size" from #32 and larger and see what has been registered for each size (you can only search for one size at a time)
  7. Another Green Highlander, this time on a hook by Flemming Andersen
  8. eide, what do you do with these flies? I assume you sell them... do your customers actually fish them? They're stunning pieces of art. I'm just oblivious to the salmon fly world. What do they look like under water? Thanks! I fish them Well, since this was the first time I tried this pattern I'll keep it, but I tie a lot of these for fishing. I do sell some, and the purpose dictates how I tie them: some want to fish them, some just want one for display, and this makes for slightly different approach when tying them.
  9. The project continues: added another 129 hooks now, bringing the total up to 1137 hooks with pictures and measurements. Thanks to everyone that have contributed to this project so far! A bit more information about the update here: http://flyfisher.org/2018/11/flyhooks-org-129-new-hooks/
  10. yes, Traherne had a way with colors!
  11. Starting out November with Nepenthian from Traherne. Fully substituted on a #5/0 iron, tied for fishing.
  12. Carron, from the Farlows Salmon Flies book
  13. If you need to compare hooks I have photographed over 1000 hooks (and more coming) at https://flyhooks.org/ You can see similar hooks based on length/gap and so on. You can also search based on many different properties, or just browse different brands
  14. Thanks! Still much to learn and improve on!
  15. Good to see you back here! I've missed seeing your stuff! Kimo Thanks Kimo! I'll be sure to post more now that tying season is back on! I hope you do t plan on fishing those. Those gold plated Yasuhiros are like $75 arent they? No fishing with these! The GH is sent back to Yasuhiro for his GH project, the JS is ending up in a frame. About 75USD per hook, yes.
  16. That is not painted on, that is gold-leaf, done by the hookmaker: Yasuhiro Ogasawara
  17. Jock Scott & GH on Yasuhiro #6/0 & #5/0 hooks
  18. Been a long time since I've posted anything here, but here are a couple of recent ones: Jock Scott & GH on Yasuhiro #6/0 & #5/0 hooks.
  19. Interested, give me a pm on details
  20. No salmon fishing for me so far this season: heading over to the ASFI in Canada in two weeks time Then it starts: Gaula & Reisa river for me later July/August, will bring a box or two with classics and my 14 foot splitcane The rivers have been really low on opening so far over here, so not much to report on as I can see, some fish have been taken, but not much
  21. Hi all! I have been working on a new site this winter/spring: http://flypattern.org/ My goal is to preserve and present patterns from the classic old books, read more on http://flypattern.org/about - it is built to make it easy to search and discover patterns based on their materials and to be able to get substitute material suggestion automatically. I have focused on classic salmon for now, but will work on trout/grayling/char when autumn comes. HÃ¥vard
  22. A Silver Doctor on its way out the door and soon in a Norwegian salmon river (season is about to start soon.....)
  23. Filled up one side of my William Blacker box, not to flip that middle selection over and start on the second half!
