This is a veniard vice I inherited, I don't know how old it is but I do know its awkward to use.

hello. I like to skin the end of my fly line by tying strong leader about 2 inches from the end, then pull it off (skinning the line & exposing the core). then I just tie a small overhand loop knot. I find it much better than braided loops. can be difficult to do on some mono core lines.
