  1. That would be awesome. One stop shopping. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge.
  2. Thanks much guys. I don't have the luxury of a nearby fly shop other than Cabelas. I know I will enjoy tying as I got a few free on-the spot lessons from a great guide at Lees Ferry Anglers (Great folks if you ever get out to fish the Colorado.). Once a bow took the midge I created, I knew I needed to be doing this. After reading all your comments it seems I am at the right place, and thanks for the welcome. I am now off to books and vices. I will let ya'll know what I settled on and progress. Thank you all again for taking the time to help a newbie. Cheers! Tom
  3. Hello all, I imagine this question has been asked 1000 times but here goes: I am retiring soon. I love fly fishing and have never tied. My goal is to purchase my equipment while employed as I will be on fixed budget later and collecting all the toys now. I plan to purchase tying equipment shortly however I cannot seem to finalize the tools. I have researched vices and have my choices slimmed down, but am sure open to suggestions. I fish in the western U.S.; Lees Ferry and San Juan River most times, with trips to Yellowstone area. I will be tying sizes 12 - 24 mostly. I know I have tons to learn however I am hoping someone can decipher all the hoopla on necessities and provide the good facts on what I can purchase to get me started correctly and not make "too many" mistakes. Any advise is sure appreciated folks. Tom - Arizona
