  1. Nice....I think those midnight feeding Browns in my neck of the woods will like these.
  2. Bluegill all the way. Plentiful, easy inexpensive flies and they taste oh so good.
  3. I'll actually be helping the Huron River Watershed Council collect bug samples on opening day. The next day I will be on a plane heading south to San Antonio. Some time in May I'll be on the South Branch of the AuSable testing all the flies I tied this winter.
  4. Thanks for posting, I'll have to watch the video when I get home. You Tube is blocked by the IS Nazi's here at work.
  5. Nice idea, gonna have to keep my eye out for some .45 colt brass next time at the range or maybe some .50 S&W for a sligthly larger body.
  6. Try setting up at shows. I was helping out a friend of mine at a gun show and I set up the vise to attract attention to his table and help pass the time. Used to do the same thing for my dad as a kid when he would set up at HAM radio swap meets.
  7. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that there might be enough people to plan a get together. Is anyone still interested in this?
  8. I would have liked to have had that rod during my brook trout days up in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
  9. What are these lanyards of which you speak?
  10. Nice!! Looking forward to seeing your fly rods and everything else at the show this year.
  11. Been at it for a few years, kids really like it. It did help me find a few new places to hunt and fish. People would post on their comments of things they saw and of course I just had to go check them out. I use a Garmin 12, still going strong after all these years.
  12. Hello back from a not so snowy SE Michigan. You'll have to keep us in the loop when the Steelies are running good out your way.
  13. Holy Crap, my allergies went off just looking at them...
  14. I checked and no marks or writing. The only markings are on the reel seat. Unfortunately the label on the carrying case has worn off and I can't make anything out.
  15. Thanks....I'm going to dig out one of my old Shakespeare reels and take it out for one trip. Any idea what weight line I would use?
  16. For years I used my Dad's old Herter's vise he bought around 1945. When he retired he wanted to start tying again so I gave it back and bought myself a Renzetti. Shortly after I bought it he gave it back and told me his eyes are too far gone to tie.
  17. Hoping someone here can give me a little history on a bamboo fly rod that was given to me. It was built by The Wright & McGill Rod Company in Denver Colorado. It was given to me by my father from a friend of the family who passed away some years ago. If I was to guess an age I would say somewhere in the 1950's.
  18. I was lucky, I had my Dad to show me the basics but things sure have changed from the 1940's when he started.
  19. I haven't in awhile because I'm not looking to buy anything. The last time I was there I about went into sticker shock at what they were charging for rods and reels. Back then I didn't have any place to buy tying materials so I would go to the show to pick stuff up. My only other option was to order stuff from Herter's (now I'm dating myself) but since Gander Mountain, Cabela's and Bass Pro have opened up I just go to one of those stores. I should go though, I would like to pick up a few tips on tying with foam. This stuff is relatively new to me and I would like to learn more about using it.
  20. I'm good for either. If you need any help planning let me know. Again, is anyone wants to put some walleye in the freezer this spring/summer let me know. Mark PS. Anyone here planning on going to the Quiet Water Symposium at Michigan State University this March?
  21. A get together sounds great. That's too bad about Curran, that seems to be happening to a lot of northern towns. I have watched Oscoda decline more and more every year since the base closed. First the base, then the salmon, then the TB thing with the deer herd.

    ducks

Yea That.....had an old Eagle Claw backpacker rod that I used to use just for that. Eventually I got a dog and that all ended. Learn to identify your ducks before you shoot. Take your shotgun to the range and practice. Be sneaky, my favorite wany to duck hunts was jump shooting farm and beaver ponds. Woodducks love beaver ponds surrounded by Oak trees.

    Avatar Help

I was having problems trying to change my profile picture as well. Kept pulling the old one back up even after I would delete it and upload the new one. I will try the F5 thing when I get home tonight.
