What material makes the best wings............
Jlud replied to Harold Ray's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
I make etched realistic wings Check out www.facebook.com/reelwings to see how tyers are using them Or my website www.reelwings.co.uk I have designed these specifically to combat the problem of aerodynamic resistance, they do not hinder casting -
Will definitely PM you all when I have more to give away

Thanks very much! i colour them with graphic rendering pens, dry brushing with inks or using a sharpie style permanent marker, i have also tried dry brushing a pearlescent paint

Hi , I have been making my own wings and using them in my flies for a little while as i was really disappointed with what was on the market. Even the ones that looked good twisted my leader and tippet when i cast them. I still use traditional methods and would never stop using hackles and feathers but i tried creating artificial ones out of curiosity and they worked well so i have been creating and developing them ever since. I have had a great response to them so far and a couple of magazines have recently picked up on them but i would love to give away a few packs to see what you folks think, i am really interested in getting some feedback so i can continue to develop them. If you feel that this is something you would be interested in please drop me a line. I have included a couple of Fly examples tied by Ulf Cararo to show how he uses them. He likes to use them blank but they can be coloured easily too many thanks Joe
