:headbang: :yahoo: DAMN Rocky.......that BE BAD!!!!!!!.......only one thing i might, (well, i would of), done differently........and that's made the tip with gold tinsel.........when i use gold hooks, i use silver tinsel for tip/tags.........when i use silver hooks, i use gold tinsel for tips/tags. And since you had a nice "golden" tail.....i'm thinkin' a gold tip mighta been KILLER on that silver hook. Woulda matched up with thail perfect. But that aint no biggie at all...........and it's just my eye. The fly ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL design.........GREAT execution........WONDERFUL proportions..........and your heads have now GOT IT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like i said..........that fly ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was....... In the pics, (which were taken on Sun.) it looks a bit bleek as far as the crowd goes........and Sun. was slow.......but Sat. we had a real good turnout. Must be the times........i fear all shows are gonna see a downturn for '09........but it'll bounch back. These things go in cycles. All you can do is roll with the punches. Have your club start a small show of it's own.....(which may grow into a BIG show), that keeps the awareness of local communities up. Make sure you have a CAUSE behind the show.........stream work, conservation litigation, education, scholarship.....something your community (Chamber of Comerace), can get behind. They'll help you promote it, (saving you expense), if they feel it's good for the community. If your club is FFF Affiliated.....contact the FFF for help and advise. Form a committee and delegate different aspects of putting on a good show to different responsible people who will get the job done. Phil, they ARE a good time............so do what i did.........start one where you live. Course depending on where you live.....that could be a lot easier said than done. We live in fly fishing MECCA..........a place where there are literally bout 15 fly shops within a 50 mile radius, and at least a half dozen right here in the immediate area. Not to mention there's 15 million people within a 140 mile radius and a lot of 'em tye flies......... ......so, maybe it'd be better if you just packed your bags and headed this way next Sept. If you wanna tye with us at the '09 Clearwater Junction.........your "IN!" Just lemme know. mark.....

Hi DFG.....far as i'm concerned most all of my pics pretty much suck.........my wife is much better with the camera than i...........we have three digitals and i'm not to hot with any of 'em. i just shoot and hope for the best....... Next year i'm gonna set up a really good permanate area (off my fly tyin' room), where all the fly pics will be taken and build it right. Only take the pics with the camera on a tripod with proper backdrop, lighting, etc., etc..........i'm pretty fed-up with the hit and miss process..........Macro is fun though, and it's a real challange with large flies.........since it was developed to do little things.....subjects. Just another nut to crack. i tyed at Somerset on Sat., and when i had time to run around (all day Sun.), i spent most of my hangin' out time, with the Salmon fly tyers..........bought tinsels, hooks, and feathers and spent time in the bar just socializin'. Misa took a bunch of pics.........she'll be postin' 'em soon. Sorry i musta missed your friends booth. This year may of been our last Danbury and or Somerset shows in Nov. Once we sell our Roscoe house, i doubt we'll ever come up to the Northeast at this time of year again...........to damn cold and to dang expensive. We've been in hotels or lodges over 200 nights this year.........we can hardly keep that up year in and year out. Our last show for this year is on Dec. 6th in Mason, Michigan..............WHEW! First for next year is Jan. 10th in Indianapolis..........OH BOY! The road is the only life i've ever known..........kinna like to find out what it's like to stay home for a while........say 3/4 months in a row. i'd prolly be bouncin' off the walls to get goin' somewhere.........that's what usually happens. :hyst: later, mark.....

Over the course of the last two shows......Danbury, Conn. & Somerset, N.J. Jay "Fishy" Fullum has done two exquisit drawings of both Paul Pitalis and Jack Gartside...........we all (show tyers), signed them to fill in the very large areas that he left surrounding the drawings, and he will make sure that Jack gets his, and that Paul's family get theirs. It was a wonderful thing for Fishy to do and i'm wondering if any other members of the site here, who were at either show, did get their signiture on the drawings as well? Or if you had a chance to at least see the drawings? i sure hope so...........Fishy is a VERY talented cat and his drawings were/are terrific! mark.....

i never knew bout this or even heard bout it...........but i'll gladly bump it......... tkx. for lettin' us know.........
