  1. I hear they've been seeing them as far south as Oklahoma and Missouri... bet the local birdwatchers are having a field day with that. I miss my time cruising the wildlife sanctuaries in NM but here everywhere you go is like a sanctuary. Was coming home from Wasilla, AK on Tuesday and there's a state refuge on the way back and there must have been 30 moose feeding out there. No place to pull over and take pictures of course, but still great to see them. Sometimes our governments can be so frustrating... hey, let's create a huge preserve to protect the animals so everyone can come enjoy them, then not put any pull-outs or parking lots in. Politicians!!! Tight lines! AK FlyBum
  2. Was looking to see if I had any photos worth sharing since joing the site a couple days ago. Have shared a few already regarding other posts but wanted to share this one as well. This was taken late summer 2010 near the end of the second Sockeye run on the Russian River up here in Alaska. Most of the "reds" had already turned and were making their final run upstream. I found these two holding in a pool while taking a rest. Took 30 plus images of them and this was the only one I kept. I titled it, "Last Push". Let me know what you think, good or bad. Tight lines! 3. Here a couple pics of my "fishing buddies" as flygirl is fond of calling them. Unfortunately if I'm not careful, some of my fishing buddies might decide they want me for breakfast. AK FlyBum
  4. Have included a few of my own efforts in the area of timed exposures. All were taken with a Canon DSLR, Manfrotto tripod, Acratech ballhead, cable release and both a polarizing and split ND filter were used.
  5. Be curious to know how the SX40 works out for you. I really considered it but finally decided against it based on it's size, though everything else about it is top notch. It was just a little too big for the pouch I have designated for the camera. As for me, my search for the right point-and-shoot goes on. Tight lines! AK FlyBum
  6. What state you from flygirl? Have been reading about the mass migration of the snowy owls and curious where folks are seeing them. Nice pics you posted. I used to see a lot of Harriers when I lived in New Mexico. Now that I'm in Alaska, Bald Eagles have replaced the Harriers. Again, nice pics.
