Hi Alex, All I can say is that I know how you feel, I am just getting over a divorce and had been married for 30 years, in fact we agreed to separate a week before our 30th anniversary. She was my soul mate and for months i felt like someone had cut off my right arm. It seemed worse to me than a death because she was still out there and eventually with someone else. That was the hardest part for me. But having said that there is a life out there and yes you should ues the time to fish and do all those things you want to do, when you want to. Time is a healer trust me on this one, you will never forget your times together but life moves on as they say. If you want someone to talk to anytime let me know in a PM ok. I am a good listener Keep your head high ok. Mike...............

Only two words to say............DYNA KING......................and I have the Professional and have never tied with a better vise and I have gone through about 8 vices in my tying lifetime. I also have an HMV as a standby and it was the vise I used for many years before I trested myself to the Dyna King........................ :yahoo: and trust me the cost is far higher in the UK for this vise... :crying: Mike

Just wanted to say thanks all for all the patterns, all I need know is an American fly dictionary to find out what some of the flies are.............. :hyst: ...........some strange names there for sure.......but really thanks for taking the time out to respond. It is strange being in foriegn country and fishing. I have fly fished lakes and rivers in England and Europe for years and am finding lots of new styles and techniques here in the States. Thanks again all................. PS....This one is for OLB.........I am assuming that Dynamite isnt the name of a fly......... :hyst: Mike

Hi Nj and welcome to the forum................its a great question you ask and the answer is like asking how long is a piece of string............. :headbang: ...........there are so many fly tying materials that are deemed to be rare. This will be because of banned exports and imports from protected spieces which all stem from the Victorian fly dressers in England and the haberdashery (hats) trade used exotic feathers in abundance and birds were killed just for the plumage. I suggest that you maybe pick up a salmon tying book or go into a salmon tying section here in the forum and you will see some rare feathers used. To give you an idea some feathers from the Florican Bustard have been sold for $300 each feather. I hope this helps Mike.................The Brit has spoken

Ok all, This is my time for the Brit to learn some of your secrets......... I thought it would be interesting to find out from you all what fly pattern gives you the most confidence in fishing and would be your choice to tie onto your leader given there was no activity from insects on the river to give you the go ahead for a match of the hatch. Most fishermen that I have met over my 40 years of fly fishing have such a pattern that is their standby that when it is tied on gives them that confidence we all need with our flies. Ok guys lets have them................ Dont be shy........... Mike................

Been using muskrat for years and it makes a great dubbing when you mix the underfur with the long guard hairs and then pick out the long fibers after the tying is complete. And as priviously stated the grey underfur is a great Adams body dubbing.............. Mike.......
