    My first fly

Thanks BFR You are right though because i was just in Fly Mart for the first time a few days ago and holy :poop:  . I went in to just look around and get some stick on eyes and a lanyard, but walked out with spending $95 bucks.....that's because the wife was with me though.....it would have been a few hundred if she wasn't .
  5. Wouldn't let me vote had to do null. :dunno: Anywho, I went with a DK Cuda because it's fully ambidextrous. I have tried out (although never really tied anything till now) a Renzetti and HMH as well, and narrowed it down to the Cuda and HMH until finally decicing to go with the DK because it fit me better.

    My first fly

Thanks guy's . I thought the wing was fine at first, then looking through the site it does look a bit heavy. The eyes though were stick on's....after i glued the head, and just before it dried i applied the eyes. I'll try something different today . This is really a sickness :headbang: :yahoo:

    My first fly

I can tie right handed equally as well  . With the shank i just fully wrapped it with the same black thread (just figured on using the bulk from the feathers and hair to give it some thickness).

Facing the wrong way Damn left hand tiers
  9. I posted this as well in the newbie section but i want to know how i did and what could i do to possibly make this better, or is it just fine :dunno: . I tied it last night off an idea in my head for a pike fly .
  10. Well here is my first My attempt was to make a Pike fly and so far i think it will catch one :dunno: . I used Deer hair for the wing, maribou for the tail, and an i don't know feather for the neck . This first pic is just when i'm about done (sorry about the poor quality). And this is the finished product.
  11. At least 32 states have ccw reciprocity with Michigan  :gunsmilie: Not that it much matters but a little pre-spring cleaning is always good .

    Getting Divorced

I'm sorry to hear that! I know i'm new and all but i've been through it.....If ya need to talk or anything PM me!
  13. Ok, for you lefty people.....Right handers tie away from themselves which would then mean they wrap clockwise. Do you also wrap away from yourselves which would then mean you tie counterclockwise?
  14. Green parrot or just the tail feathers? In the Amazon quite a few parrots have wide bodied tail feathers including macaws (coverts, primaries, and secondaried will differ in width). If you want to search your area, look for....Yellow Nape Amazon, Double Yellow Amazon, Blue Front Amazon, Maximillion Pionus, and various Macaws like....Illigers, Lafresnaye, Military, Noble, Severe, and Yellow Collar Macaws (these are mostly green tailed Macaws....if you want other mutations and specias names let me know). If those types of feathers are hard to get, you might try getting Umbrella, Moluccan, Triton, Citron Crested, and Greater Sulfer Crested Cockatoo feathers and dying them. Hope this helps.
  15. Nice chunk of lumber.....almost looks like a flame maple top....and on a squire.... COOL! :headbang: Guitarists.net I don't really play guitar anymore, but i still play jazz & funk bass And don't worry, after a few months of tabs you'll probably start remembering a whole lot more. :headbang:

    New guy

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I used to tie years ago and will be getting back into it very soon but since a recent stroke, i really don't remember too much about tying now, however i think i will start to pick up again when i get a few done. Also i used to be left handed and now i have to start tying ambidextrous. Through research, the DK Barracuda and other models in their line are fully ambi. So if any of you ever need this option, there it is. Are their any suggestions you can give me or even books and video that you would recommend....it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, AlG
