  4. Al, though I have not done it for any of my recent posts to the forum. I have in the past, placed my flies on a photographers light box, this allowed the light to penetrate from behind, illuminating the feathers from within, giving a remarkable glow. This works better with the 2d flies like classic salmon and steelhead better than trout flies, but worth a shot anyway.

  7. I have been posting mostly well known classic hairwing wetflies that have been long forgotten about, you can find most of the patterns in Trey Combs Steelhead books. The style I am tying them is been popularized for the past 20 years or so and does suit itself for low water grease-line presentations. I do tie all of my flies on various weights of hooks, but the style of tying I have been posting is standard fare for westcoast steelheaders. I have been posting my flies to advocate the "westcoast" style.

  13. I use the TMC 202 SP hook. I find it has a graceful line for a presentation fly and a fishable alternative to the AJ Spey hooks.

  19. Ray, Since I intend on fishing with this fly, I tied it on a hook I actually use for fishing and have had success with. So I used a TMC 202SP #4

  21. Yes, I do. I do it without the hide however as it doesn't soak up so much water. These are second generation designs, much improved over the first round. maol deconstructed
