  2. I am just happy that some folks are still reading the printed word and note merely relying on the web as a complete resource of tying information. So many great books have been written and the information still applicable. keep up the library, all good books mentioned so far.
  3. I like to use swiss straw that has been treated with a few coats of "softex". I found that the dryer sheets and tvek options create upright wings that "helicopter"...the swiss straw softex wings look great but will collapse while casting, yet spring back into shape, thus alleviating the helicopter effect. Just use a small strip of swiss straw 4-5", open it and work it smooth and flat. Apply a coating of softex, let dry, repeat.   4. I always like to add a few drops of degreaser into the dye bath to aid in better color saturation, especially when dyeing any plumage.

  6. PMD can range in color from a sulpher-orange to pale yellow depending on species and location. Get to know your local bugs and you can dial in the right color. When in doubt...tie in various shades from sulpher to pale yellow
