  1. Ok I get what you are saying. Thanks for the step by step, very clear and easy to undrestand...
  2. What is the technique for seperating the rachis from the shaft without tearing it. How dureable are the collars when tied in this way? Nice tie...
  3. I am really curious what kind of Nymph shuck this is. I have fished this water for years and have never seen anything even close to this size. It was found on the bank at the bottom of a riffel in a sandy bottom section of stream. it is about 1 and 1/2 inches long. What do you think?
  4. I saw Lefty tie a Bugger at a show a few years ago and I tie all of mine that way now. The way he does them the hackle stem is in between 2 layers of chenille and twisted in a tight rope. Have never had a hackle break doing them this way.
  5. I tie Stones, Caddis, and Mays in size 18 to 10 with #14 being by far my most popular size. (I really only cary like 3 #10 in each one). That being said I have not put legs on a nymph in 8 years. I really dont think it makes a difference in my neck of the woods, However I am catching like 95% stocked fish. Far more important in my book are Presentation, size, and color in that order. If you are using close to the same size as the natural, in close to the same color as the natural and you present it to the fish in a natural way it will eat. If you get these 3 things right I really dont think legs will make a difference one way or another. Just my .02
  6. Polyethylene shipping tubes. Page 1482 in catalogue #113. Or do a search on thier websight.
  7. Go to McMaster Carr . com. It comes in 6 ' lengths in several different diameters. Caps to mach each size tubeing. If you cant find them let me know. I order all the time for work, can order a few lengths, cut em, cap em and send them to you.
  8. I fish a # 14 flashback PT in an olive color (olive died PT) and a # 14 Hares ear in a tandem most of the spring. I fish this when caddis are in as well as BWO's. This year I have tried to keep track on how many fish I catch on each fly and it is almost exactly 50 /50. to keep things fair I will switch posistions of the 2 flies, dosent seem to matter. This is why I an a firm believer if you get the depth, drift, and presentation right you will catch. Work on these things rather than changing flies every 5 minutes and you will catch more fish. The bead headded caddis is a great caddis imatation as well asd is simple to tie. Bead head, dubbed body and wire rib. tied on a scud type hook.
  9. You can see the progretion from 6 month ago till now. Both of those flies will catch fish. How much did that bluegill in your avatar weigh. Awesome fish.
  10. I cant believe no one mentioned the Bully. The best panfish fly ever imho.
  11. You can reach him on another sight. www.stripersonline.com. He is onthere quite a bit. you can reach him thru a PM. Hope this helps. P.S. to the moterators: not in any way trying to spam, just trying to help out.
  12. Which C&F box did you get? If you are using the one designed to hold streamers it will crush the hackles. I use the nymph style to hold my soft hackle flys. the foam design is diffrent, it is "open" at the front.
  13. I havent really been into midge patterns in the past. I think I may be short changeing myself by not tying/fishing any midge patterns. My question is this; What are some of your favorite midge patterns and why. Please feel free to post some pics. I would love to see them. Thanks in advance.
