Going to buy generic Antron. What color is dun? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
-
Is it actually called halo tinsel at the craft store?
-
Anybody know what/ where to find small halo tinsel? Thanks.
-
Can I use it in place of brown?
-
I found a furnace rooster cape online. Is that brown? Looks like it in the picture.

Thanks for the good info. I will give it a try. I've always used hook size divided by 3 for appropriate tippett size.
-
Wouldn't rule that out either. I have a hard time casting large flies when I'm in saltwater too. Still I think. A 5 x tapered leader may be a bit too small for a larger weighted bugger. I may try a straight piece of mono.
-
Larger loops. Poor distance.
-
I usually use a 5x 9'nylon leader. Or a 7.5 with fluro tipper for very clear water.
-
I guess that would work for bigger poppers too.
-
Really I can just buy mono and carry it like any other leader with a perfection loop ready to change out with flies.
-
So even trout fishing with say a size #8 w. bugger, a straight piece if mono? Any luck with those sinking leaders on a floating line?
-
What would be the max size leader you would use on a 5wt?
-
I was more considering just a larger leader. I typically use different sizes tippet within the small fly range. Just sometimes I swap to a wolly bugger and don't get casts like I want.
-
Just curious on what other folks are doing. I usually trout fish with a 5x leader for most of my flies. Occasionally I'll change to a little bigger streamer. Do you guys usually swap to a bigger leader to turn over the bigger fly? Or are there any other techniques out there? Thanks.

So it's basically a matter of preference? I could, for example, tie a hares ear in either one?
-
How do you know when to use the curved shank hooks? I sometimes see them labeled as scud/ emerger hooks. What are ye benefits on some of the standard nymph patterns? Thanks.
-
Not yet but I understand very clearly what I'm doing wrong. Too much initial power. I can see the rod bending to much on the forward stroke. Any suggestions on slowing it down? Besides the obvious.
-
Anybody used these before? How are they?
-
Thanks. That was awesome.
-
Mid to long, usually.
-
Any suggestions for fixing a tailing loop?

How do you guys usually fish nymphs for Stillwater bream?

I'm in the south and can't always get to trout waters. I enjoy tying trout flies. Anybody use them for panfish with any success?

Nice thanks. I think I saw that website but couldn't get it to load until I went through the link.
