  1. That's why I do this. If I just wanted a fly I could buy one but I think it's a lot of fun being able to modify parts of a fly such as hook size or color. Sometimes it works sometimes not.
  2. So wing isn't big enough and it's got to much hackle that's also to long
  3. Next time I order fly tying stuff IM going to get the white goose and the golden pheasant tippet. I can't pay shipping for 2 items. IM sure the fish won't mind.
  4. This is tied on a szie 8 hook. i did have to make a few substitutions for the tail i used pheasant tail and brown turkey feather for the wings. I think its not to bad for my first attempt if you have any suggestions id love to hear them.
  5. sorry i forgot that. im in northern wisconsin (barron county).
  6. Were going to be buying about 150 acres of land and it.turns out that a trout stream runs through it. I'll finally be able to fly fish for trout! I do have one questions what species of trout live in the moose eat creek? ive been looking all over but cant find anything about it. The dnr site says its a class 2 stream
  7. ive tied a few like the black one in several different colors. the bass and pike like them but no musky yet. Is the chartreuse and white fly (2nd down) tied with marabou or bucktail?
  8. would a 6/0 gartside gurgler work?
  9. IM in need of some ideas on what to tie so it would be great if I could get some pics along with the recipe.
  10. Yeah got it yesterday. Have tied a few on it. I don't know why I didn't get a rotary vise earlier.
  11. just ordered the mongoose. Should be here by the end of the week. Cant wait to tie something with it.
  12. Yeah I tie way to many different patterns. Over the years ive probably tied 70 different patterns and every time I fish I find myself using the same 5 patterns.
  13. Yeah that's what I was thinking. I think I might get one
  14. Griffin Blackfoot Mongoose or the Anvil Atlas?
  15. Now it's getting to the point where I can hardly tie anymore because the vise hardly holds a hook
  16. Those will definitely catch fish. I noticed the bead on the first one is kind of messed up. For the gap you could use some dubbing.
  17. The current vise I have is the vise that you would get if you were to buy a tying kit(I think its a Thompson). I would really like to get a better vise because this one doesn't hold hooks very well and I would like a vise that I can rotate. I have been looking at the HMH one and they are very nice a little expensive though. Do you know pf any other brands that are similar to HMH that I should look into?
  18. Ill post pictures when i can remember how.
  19. Ive had it for a few days and in that time ive tied several flies with it. Im very impressed with the material it is a very simple material to tie with. I like it much better than the congo hair i had tied with before.
  20. I've fly fished for 2 year only for pike, bass and occasionally panfish so I know how to cast and have the equipment.. I wanted to go on a guided trip until I saw the price 500$.
  21. IM afraid to even suggest that I need a new vice.
  22. I have a pair of feathercraft scissors that cuts very close. The best part is they only cost $8
  23. I really want to try fly fishing for trout but I have no idea where to go. Does anyone have any experience fishing in northern Wisconsin? IM not looking to catch a huge fish. In general what is the best class to fish 1, 2.or 3?
