Specific Gravity of other textile fibers. Just a few comments on textile fibers that work for me. Polyester works great for dubbing. It binds well to itself or when mixed with natural fibers. Aunt Lydia's rug yarn (Polyester) sparkles in the sunlight which I feel makes the fish want to take a closer look. Poly Yarn (Polypropylene) is good for dry fly wings, posts, and has a SG of .90 which makes it light weight and floats. https://www.madriveroutfitters.com/p-534-polypropylene-yarn.aspx As an added bonus neither of the two above materials will hold water. Trilobal Nylons also sparkle in the sunlight and are readily available. The jig you show looks similar to a sparkie. Barlows description: The wide head shape will not let the jig tip to the side when it rests on the bottom. This enables the lure to be used with a slider method as well as regular jigging action.

đź‘Ť what mold are you using? Do these swim much different than a 90 deg type jig (round head, hot lips or Popeye).

Nice large gills.

Frog Fly I finally figured out how to make the fly dive and wiggle. A wider lip with an angle from 22 to 45 degrees, and line tie placed further from the nose of the fly causes it to wiggle. Tapering the nose helps some but not as much as mentioned above. I chose an angle of 45 degrees as it seems to be optimum for wiggling, while still able to dive 3 to 10 inches depending on the speed of the retrieve. To make it more of a diving fly is just a matter of decreasing the lip angle closer to 0 degrees. Notes: 1. Angle of the lip is defined with the eye of the hook oriented vertically where 0 degrees is parallel to the hook shank. 2. Lip material changed to 2 thicknesses of a 2 liter soda bottle (PET) as this plastic is much stiffer than the milk bottle (HDPE). The stiffer plastic (PET) prevents the lip angle from changing over time when fishing. 3. Hook: Mustad 9674 #1 5X Long -

Thanks gang. Denduke Wow does it dive/wiggle? It dives but doesn"t wiggle. Notice in photo I changed the lip to a coffin shape and made it wider hoping to get it to wiggle. Both lip types dive but this one can dive deeper depending how the lip is bent. At 45 deg it dives 3 in and at 20 deg it dives 10 in. Lip is made from a milk jug, bends easily, and retains it"s shape. (July 12 correction: the angle will change when it is fished longer) MIke floats well and will turn over if it lands on it's side. -

Hook: Worm Offset Shank EWG 07143 Theory: Foam is flexible and can move closer to the hook shank allowing more of an exposed gap for a better hook up. -

Thanks Philly. Great suggestion I will have to make sneaky Pete’s too. Nice one PD, whatever broke you off sounded big. Will you be adding squirmy worms to any more poppers, like you did to this one? -

Tried to do a Pole Dancer. It does have some action but not as good as Bisharat's. Good news it does catch em. -

Those look good, I can see a Cdad there. Oh yea I tried the other two wiggle bugs tonight. The larger one (size 1) was two heavy for my liking even though it caught a bass. When I make more it will be with one less layer of foam. -
4 refers to 1/4 inch so 4/4= 1inch and 5/4=1-1/4 inch

Real nice!

Denduke..I thought they looked like a LazyIke too, but they are a wiggle bug pattern. I have fished the top one, it dives and wiggles good. The action is triggering strikes on bass that are usually harder to entice. I do short strips about 12/18" then pause & repeat. Nice Cicada, are they emerging in your area this year?
