  1. A couple of fish from the past weekend.
  2. works nicely on big streamer heads, I use it to tie murdich minnows.
  3. I like a purple one in a #2, rabbit, packed tight with lead and a big orange brass bead, it's the heaviest fly I carry with me and that's why I like it, it gets down fast. I only ever use it with my 7wt spey rod though, gets it out there no problem.
  4. You could also get a really cool effect with lady amherst dyed in different colours or maybe even reeves.
  5. That would seem to be the most logical course of action but they are sold out of the stones, will try to get my hands on one of the dragonflies though. Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming!
  6. This is another good point, other examples would be classic wet fly hooks and double salmon hooks.
  7. Give it a shot, I use it all the time and it makes terrific nymph bodies.
  8. Lead wire, lead tape, copper wire, you could probably use thin soldering wire as well, pretty much anything heavy you can think of that won't rust.
  9. Very cool look you got with the golden!
  10. Ya that's what I was thinking, not sure on the shellback though, it has the markings of swiss straw but it's pretty glossy looking and doesn't look to be coated. May just have to email him like you suggested.
  11. A customer wants these two flies done up for him, I only have the pictures to go off of though. I need some help figuring out if those are bead chain or mono eyes and what shellback material was used on the dragonfly, and I need to know what material the thorax is and what makes up the rib on the stone. Thanks for any help, Chris
  12. Anvil apex, will hold up to an 8/0, some 9/0's would probably fit in it depending on the gauge.
  13. Got my first steelhead of the year on Tuesday, tribs are definitely shaping up!
  14. In that case you should be able to get some large collars out of it.
  15. Yes all the feathers you mentioned are very useful, the shoulders will make for good soft hackle streamers.
  16. Ballpoint pen with the front cut off, great for pushing back bucktail on hollow body ties.
  17. For the hair stacker, use a large one and run a fine toothed comb through the entire bunch, then put it in the stacker, it will separate the fibres and the big hair stacker will keep them apart, works like a charm with calf tail.
  18. At least you guys have some man power with the DNR, you're lucky to see an MNR CO once a month around here, and if you call to report MAYBE one out of 20 times a guy will show up.
  19. That's natural gas he's talking about... Shoot away buddy!
  20. I like this one! Needs bigger JC though!
  21. +1 Fill the bottom with epoxy so fibres don't get stuck in the uneven bottom.
