    F1

I have been a fan for years and this Hamilton kid is the best thing to come along in a very long time. Shumacher never started this well. But please, enough about Shumacher. He's retired, let him go. I'm a Kimi fan though not necessarily a Ferrari backer. This season shows great hope for an excitling year of racing. If only there was a glimmer of hope to hear the Star Spangle Banner some Sunday morning. Scott Speed just doesn't seem to have the commitment it takes to make it in F1. Heading back Europe, now the games begin.
  2. Troutguy, I pretty much use the pink combinations (pinkand white, pink and blue, pink and red etc) for Seatrout, but have been known to hookup a largemouth bass on occassion. I loved both swaps. Both created a great group of flies. Can't wait for the opportunity, and time, to participate in another. Brian
  3. My bunch of flies arrived yesterday. What a great collection of flies and styles. I'm a self taught tier and having different variations of patterns in front of me helps to correct my mistakes or misinterpretations of patterns. Books and downloaded patterns just don't stand up to the real thing. Thanks guys for such a lesson learned and a great experience. Thank you Lineside for leading this swap. Brian
  4. My bunch arrived on Monday and I felt like a kid at Christmas. :yahoo: Thank you for making my first swap so much fun. What a great bunch of flies. Nice job everyone. :headbang: Thanks Merle for hosting. Brian
  5. My tying time is to get away from it all. No Ipod, no tv, no radio. Just me and the dog.

  11. I'm in. My only question not answered, so far, is how do we get in contact for where I send the flies that I have tied?
  12. Can I join the fun? This will be my first so if you can talk me through what is expected that would be appreciated.

  14. Nice looking and simple pattern. I bet it would great over here on the east coast in a pink or peach coloring. Good work. Tinman
  15. Good lookin flies. I visited the Little River Outfitters over the summer and what a shop!!! Get people, great supplies and great programs that they offer. Can't wait to get ack up there again this summer.
  16. A new Renzetti Traveler runs about $155. It all depends on the shape of the vise you are looking at as to whether it is a good purchase or not. I am a big fan of Renzetti and would recommend their vises to anyone. Good luck.
  17. Thank you Alex, I appreciate the help.
  18. I have just come across some deer hide(belly and shoulder). How do you go about making it a usable tying material? Once it is usable, how do you dye it? Thanks for any help.
  19. T-villeTom, There is a wonderful shop right there in T-ville called The Fly Fisherman on US1. Talk to John Tarr or Rich LeBlond. They are very knowledgable, plus the shop has just about anything you can think of for saltwater fly fishing or tying. They also have information on area fly tying / fly fishing groups. Welcome.

    4wt Flyrod

Thanks for info. I presently have a TFO TiCr 8wt and feel very comfortable with it. I purchased it after trying out several rods of different price ranges and the TFO felt the best. It's nice to know that TFO is supporting the troops as we all should. I"m leaning in that direction but will also take day5's advice and get more info on custom build. I'm a novice at the custom build so any further advice would be greatly apperciated.

    Guides

I will be heading up to Boone NC and Pigeon Forge TN next month and would like some help finding a reputable guide to the areas. This is my first time fishing the areas and would like to make my time worth while since I will have only a day or two in each area to fish. Any pointers accepted and appreciated. I have an 8wt presently for saltwater but am looking into a 4wt for the trip.
  25. If you fish in saltwater you will need to wash and rinse your gear in very warm water to break down the salt and get it off your rod, reel and fly line. I go to the extent of taking my fly line off the reel and soaking it in very warm water while I rinse my rod, reel and flies. Then I pass the line through a soft towel while putting the line back onto the reel. I pretty much fish salt exclusively and have found that this has added life to my equipment. You may want to try www.outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com for more saltewater info.
