  1. Slow day for sure, but the non articulated version worked great. Those are beads with mono melted in the middle. I do have some of the LEAD I-Balz, but I try to stay clear from them. One they are lead and two, I like my lines to put the fly where I want, not the fly.
  2. hey thanks man. glad you like it! Okay, because of your fly, and the fact I am remodeling my House and watch ALLOT of DIY, I came up with what I call "KITCHEN RENOVATION" LOL Starts off with a Hot Chocolate by Bill Schiess, then into Kelly Galloup's Egg Sucking Sculpin / Sex Dungeon. Gonna try it at Strawberry this weekend:
  3. Thanks...that is a great looking fly!
  4. Interesting...so how big are yours?
  5. Looks a little like Kelly Galloup's "SEX DUNGEON" which is a great pattern. I like the up, tailing hook. Add a little glow bug yarn under the chin, maybe?! Very nice! I would fish it! What is the body made out of?
  6. They look like great catchers, a guide fly. I would love to see a recipe. Here is the You Tube that got my attention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAoxP1SfxRU
  7. BUZZERS! Thanks to a great guy GREG of FAOL I finally got my BLUE BIOT, plus many other colors so it is Crayola Buzzers:
  8. Rocky, real simple. I am using a Mustad #14 hook and of course matching bead (WHITE) I Lay down a layer of red thread and tie in some flashabou for a shuck. I then tied in some fine, fine silver wire and the hubby being a rod builder had some silk laying around. I am paying more attention to custom rods lately because of that and I notice, rods wrapped with white, if you don't add color preserve, they disappear. SOOOOO, I thought, that could make a cool effect on a fly. So I tie the silk ( I don't think brand matters, this is VLI, but Gossomer would work also) I left a small tag of red and then wrapped. The silver wire is almost invisible when dry, so alittle tuff getting it segmented even. I made SOFT HACKLES out it also.....way cool.
  9. I have been playing with SILK. Came up with this Chironomid I call "TRANSFORMER - C" It is white dry... but wet!!!!!!!!!!
  10. You do, a little less these days....getting to old for this stuff LOL
  11. Hans....LOVE THOSE SOFT HACKLES! You rock on them!
  12. Dear Fellow Fly Fishing & Outdoor Enthusiast, The Stonefly Society and Cache Valley Anglers, chapters of Utah Trout Unlimited, are pleased to announce the Third Annual Wasatch Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo. The Expo will be held Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, 2009 at the Karen Gail Miller Conference Center, Salt Lake Community College, 9750 South 300 West, Sandy, Utah. This two-day Expo will feature fly tying demos from some of the best fly tiers in Utah, casting clinics, fly tying and fly fishing workshops, casting competition, fly fishing film festival, prize raffles, exhibitors, and more. Last year’s event was a great success and we anticipate this year’s Expo to be bigger and better. Expo activities on Friday will go from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. The banquet Saturday evening will start at 6:30 p.m. and will include a live and silent auction. The goals we have are threefold: 1) raise funds for future conservation projects for Utah’s streams, rivers, and lakes, 2) celebrate fly tying and fly fishing in the state of Utah, and 3) have some fun. In addition to the Expo event, we are pleased to announce we are bringing back the Wasatch Fly Fishing Film Festival which will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 7 p.m. The film festival will feature 5-7 mini fly fishing film segments. It will be held at the Miller Free Enterprise Center in the Auditorium, Salt Lake Community College, 9750 South 300 West, Sandy, Utah. Tickets will be $8 per person. 13. Hi Jeremy, yes it is. I have streamers on the top, then scuds & 200R's, then dries then nymphs Sooooo much easier, but I do stick with one style of hook for each. I prefer longer hooks.
