  8. Ya I have ordered from him before and always got my capes within a few days.

  10. Well I'm on my way 14 years so far just never got into books for what ever reason. I have a favorites folder with all of these books on Amazon I have read some review Amazon has on all these and no one seems to have any negative comments. Thanks for all the help you guys! One of my catskill style flies light Cahill #14 one of my favorites.

  13. I am fan of Mike Valla's work really his work is art on a hook, Ray Bergman I also know but the rest I'll get out my note pad and write some of these down.
  14. I normaly give my test flies away to people who fly fish but don't tie or have no time to tie when I can I give to kids aslo but I am too wondri g about tying flies to give to maybe fishing for recovery? or any other places kind of looking forward to seeing where this thread goes.
  15. I know this might not be an easy task but I have been wanting to do something like this for some time now and have a decent selection of tying materials hanging around. Maybe I can find a book and read through it to find out what materials I am missing and gather them for a nice project for next winter. My question is what fly tying books would any of you recomend that I could sit down and tie through? I am really looking for a book that has one type or has chapters that contant types of flies I.E. catskill dry flies or traditional wets ect. My favorite style is catskill style dry flies but I am open to anything really. Just looking for some input as to what books you guys hold in high regard not just for nice pictures of flies but also good information as well. Hope this question is not to vague I know I could just google this but I have and there are so many books out it is hard to choose. Thanks
  16. If you are looking for 12-16 and want just a few colors the half bronze-silver capes he has for shows are a great deal for 22.50. If you want to put a package together and get a deal I'm sure he would work something out for you if you give him a call. Just tell him what you want to tie and he will give you the best recommendation for cost and how many flies you will get. Here is a great article that is full of great info about hackle. http://www.flyfishfood.com/2014/09/hackle-comparisons.html
  17. I have been buying all my hackle from him as of late and I have yet to buy the half capes from the TU deal he has. Personaly I think the bargin bin has some nice deals but if you are looking for capes I would go with the 40$ capes he lists under the whiting dry fly capes he also offers them in halfs aswell for I think 22.50 they are between a bronze and silver grade great deal for what you are getting. here is a picture to tell you what you get as far as a range or feather count and sizes.
  18. wow what a fly! Just wondering if you put on the under body useing a bobbin or by hand?
  19. like others have said just get some 2mm craft foam and maybe check out getting one of these. http://www.riverroadcreations.com/beetlefoam.htm
  20. Ya I normaly just til my fly towards myself a tad then I whip finish the fly as you stated. I find if you use your fingers you can "bend" the thread to the angles you want but with a tool it is much more static.
  21. thanks lol im biting at the bit to get out and fish but still i the low 20's here...
