  1. Congrats. When my son was a couple months old, I posed him for a photo with a fly rod and a shotgun beside him. Some of my inlaws were not impressed, but I still treasure that photo.

There is certainly pride in a newborn, boy or girl.

  2. Years ago I went on a walleye charter out on Lake Erie and a storm came up. The fishing improved. We were high and dry under the top on the charter boat and all was fine until some guy down the bench made a cast and his lure hit the water, but his mono stayed up in the air. He started screaming and the boat captain ran back to investigate. The captain looked at his line, his rod, and then ran forward to get on the PA. He ordered everyone with a graphite rod to reel in and put the rod away. Someone asked why and he said because they are a natural lightening rod. You could almost smell the smoke from the reels as lines were reeled in and rods put away. A memorable experience.

  3. Another way would be to highlight the recipe, right click and choose copy, open word or wordpad, and paste only the recipe into the document. That way you are only printing what you want. If you want the picture of the fly too, right click on the picture, copy it, and paste it into the document too then print. I usually save the file in case I misplace the paper(I lose stuff a lot)

Free to join and send short video clips(less than 1minute) as emails. Paid version allows you to send longer videos. You can either use your webcam to compose on the fly, or upload a preciously recorded clip. Nothing fancy, but it does work. You have to wait for video to be processed before it shows up in someone's inbox, so it isn't instantaneous, but will be sent in a hour or two, depending on how many videos they are working on at the moment. Could be used to send a tying technique demo to someone, or a teaser video of a new fishing spot that you found. Read the docs and tutorials at the site, and look for youtube videos for eyejot. 5. Just got out of the hospital again. This time I may have really stepped in it. Apparently the antibiotics that I am taking for the knee infection causes a lot fluid retention as well as messing up the kidneys. One of the heart pills I take to regulate heart rate wasn't working right and has a tendancy to make the fluid retention much worse, sending me into congestive heart failure. When my Afib heart noticed the CHF it decided to party, sending me to hosp. with a heart rate of 140, chest pain, and shortness of breath. This whole thing has permanently damaged my heart to the point that they say I may need a pacemaker to straighten the mess out. Please continue to pray for me and my wife who is facing knee replacement surgery in three weeks. The Lord continues to look after us, so I prob. shouldn't complain.

I hope and pray all of you have a good new year. Randy

  6. I'm home. They cut me loose after a week in the hospital and told me to go home and heal. I have a 2 inch wide hole in the side of my leg, about half to three quarters of an inch deep that I have to repack with gauze twice a day. I am hooked up to a battery powered IV pump that shoots antibiotics into me 24/7. So far, the joint is not infected, but if the infections gets into it, they may have to remove it. Since I lost so much bone during the first two surgeries this year, they may not have enough bone left to work with, meaning, the leg comes off to keep the infection from doing me in. There is a lot of people praying that doesn't happen. I am convinced that I'll be OK. I'll be in touch. Have a good Thanksgiving. Randy

  7. I fear for our country. When it was said before the last election that if the now current administration was elected we would not recognize our country in the future, I wasn't sure that could ever happen, but I am convinced of it now. I don't know how our country could be in such bad shape that we would elect politicians of either party that would completelly disregard our constitution and the will of the people they are supposedly serving.

  8. When I bought the software to allow you to broadcast your desktop and any window that is open to the virtual classroom or to instant messaging chats, I messed up, but didn't know it at the time. I bought it outright instead of through the trial version, so I therefore was charged full price. I contacted them about it and was given a free second license for another computer. I can't use the second license. If anyone thinks they might want to demonstrate photoshop or other graphics software in the virtual classroom or teach it via IM's, PM me and I'll send details on how to get the free license. I only have one license available so the first to PM me gets it. I've already paid for it, and can't get my money back. My mistake. You can also demonstrate any photography related software that you use, it doesn't have to be photoshop. Im leaving for my physical therapy(two surgeries on my knee this past winter) now and will check back this eve. Randy

  9. I found some software that will allow anyone to teach a class in photoshop or other programs in the FTF virtual classroom. I bought the software and have used it along with the free superwebcam program to broadcast a window in Paint Shop Pro to the virtual classroom. It can also be used to teach software on a one on one teacher/student basis via most of the current instant messaging systems. It costs $25. I have mentioned this to Will, who thinks this might be useful. If anyone is interested, the link is below. I'll put together a short tut on what I have learned about it and post it on HatchesTV.
