  1. Wow after seeing all of these beautiful fly's posted, just throw mine in the trash.
  2. There's some great fishing around that area. You have the Tuckaseegee River, which part of it is Delayed Harvest. A short ride away is rivers in the Cherokee area, another great fishing spot. You have the Davidson River, Nantahala River and the Mills River. I would definitely throw in my gear.
  3. My fly swap fliesĀ are on their way. I apologize for cutting it close. This is my first time swapping in forever and I forgot the toe tag.

  4. May I grab one of the spots? Colts for me
  5. SBPATT, that is one awesome looking fly. Great job.
  6. Make sure you don't have any needle nose pliers in your carry on. They took mine in Cancun, not that it really mattered but.
  7. No I haven't been to the doctor, it's something that I have had for years. Messed my back up almost 30 years ago, I use to break horses for people on the side. That should tell the tale there, I got bucked off one day and my back has never been the same since. I wear a vest that has a hip belt made into it so it give some support. It could even be the shoes, don't know. I may have to try a different type. I think the back excersises are the way I need to go.
  8. Take your finger nail and push the wraps together as you go.
  9. I like them, what are you using for the bodies and bills? Sort of looks like craft foam for the body?
  10. Thanks for all of the advice. I guess I will just have to suck it up and keep on keeping on! I will definately start the day from now on with a couple of ibruprofen. I am a run and gun fisherman, wide open from the time the truck door slams. Looks like I am going to have to slow down and enjoy the scenery more.
  11. That wading rivers is killing me. Much as I hate to admit it, I am getting old fast. There's nothing I love more than wading rivers and trout fishing but I have to pay the price after a day on the water. It takes me two days to get over a day on the river. My back and down my legs kill me after standing and wading all day or even a half day. Anyone else have these problems and what do you do to try and help the problem, besides stay home.
  12. I like the concept of it. Do you have any problems with the line rubbing into right where it goes through the bill. I noticed what looks like maybe a drop of glue there.
  13. A copper john is one of my best flies for trout. I also tie them in blue, red, green and pink; mostly on a size 16 or 18.
  14. I run a 4 wt. line on mine, the reason for that is; I was having a hard time throwing weighted nymphs with the 3 wt. line. After changing it made a world of difference in the casting of the rod.
  15. I'm with Mike on the BPS, Hobb's Creek I think it's called. Great real for the money.
  16. A guy I work with found out I was a fly fisherman and he brought me a gift, 2 bamboo fly rods. One is a Montague, Lake Pleasant and the other one doesn't have a name on it. They were his brothers and he past away a couple of years ago. The guy said he was just waiting on finding someone that would use them. He said they were bought in the 50's. I have never even handled a bamboo rod and these are not in the best of condition. Maybe some of you can give me some idea of it's even worth tying to have fixed. From where the guy had them rubber banded together, they are bowed a little. Which would be good if you wanted to throw a curve I guess. Both rods need to have the guides wrapped again and even replace a couple of guides. Handle don't look bad at all. I will try and take some pictures this evening and update this post. Any ideas, are they worth trying to salvage?
  17. My family and I will be up there at the end of the month, Feb. 20th actually. I was just wondering if anyone would like to get together and sling a line? I plan on fishing at least Saturday and Sunday morning. Though I may leave early enough on Friday to get there around daylight on Friday. The only time I have ever fished up there was last summer for just a couple of hours on morning. I fish downtown Gatlinberg then with no luck.
  18. What part of WNC is your place in? I live in a little town near Clemson. We do have some awesome lakes, I actually live on Lake Keowee, though Hartwell, Jocassee, Russell and Clarks Hill are pretty close by. Next time your up my way give me a shout and we will go sling a line. We also have some really good rivers up here too, Chauga and Chattooga.
  19. I hadn't even paid that any attention, thanks for bringing it up. Because if an accident can happen it will be to me. One of those knives has a protective cover over the blade, the other one has got to go. My middle girl heads off to colledge next fall, Western Carolina here she comes.
  20. Yes I am a lefty! That note is from my baby girl, she's a daddy's girl. Can you tell? SP, I have only been tying since last summer. But things have expanded rather quickly. I am sure I will out grow this pretty quickly but it gives a good place to store material I regularly use and I can just shut the doors with mess in tac.
  21. Well as you can see I had to do a litte bit of remodeling on my desk. The storage boxes I wanted to use just wouldn't fit properly. So I tore everything out and started over again. Still have to purchase a few more boxes but so far so good. All I like now is labeling the boxes.
  22. I was at one of the local small Walmarts the other day looking for these in the shaving department but they didn't have any. The only thing I could find was disposable razors? Is this the department I need to be looking in or just find a bigger Walmart?
  23. I found some glue the other day that I really like, though it isn't a UV type glue. It's called Glue2go made by Loctite, some of you may have seen it or even recomended it, because I saw it somewhere before I bought it. This glue is super thick, like epoxy, but thicker. It doesn't run when you apply it, it seems to tack up pretty quick. An best thing is no smell. I have been using it on nymphs like the flashback, works great.
  24. Yes the bottom part does have a slide that comes out, actually there are two slides. I have several ideas on how I want this thing laid out but I am open to more ideas. It will have a power strip in there but it also has a light already wired into the top. Though it's coming out and a better light put back near the front so it shines down on the tying surface. I like the idea of the velcro, I will certainly use that.
  25. My wife is a organizational nut, she makes jewelry and cards but her stuff is organized to the max. Well she has been telling me that I need to get organized to make better use of time and materials. So I started looking at different ways to get organized. First thing I thought I needed was one place to store my material. A place where when I am finished tying I can just close up and no one will see the mess I have left behind. So I started out looking for a roll top desk, but just never seen the one I thought was for me. Well I got to looking through Craigslist and found a piece of furniture that I think will work. An for only $75 bucks I don't think I got hurt, with it being a solid oak cabinet. I am planning on putting in different size plastic containers to keep my material sorted. I will add the pictures of it after I get it finished. Right now I am so tired, from toting that heavy rascal up the stairs. Organizing will have to wait till tomorrow. What you think, will it work?
