It's not unusual! In fact, I have witnessed this kind of behavior many times before. And I hate it when other, more experienced anglers tell me that my baits are either too perfect, or not realistic at all. I think that fish sometimes are too lazy to eat, or don't feel like it!

The Echo Ion I have uses a simple, un-sealed disc drag and this reel works really effectively. If the case is such that you own a heavier or a longer spay rod, then I recommend purchasing an additional brass drag knob, as this is the best way to balance your outfit.
