I am sure he does not make everything in house. I can only control who I buy from. Not who he buys from. I have no reason to try anything else. Silvercreek's resin has exceeded my expectations concerning his claims on tack and cure time. And he is great to deal with. Fast shipping and easy to contact. *I will add that concerning uv resins, I was confused why people would buy a product that required another product over the top to seal it. I like being able to do one coat of resin, cure it and be done with the fly.

I have never had a problem with Silver's resin. It has exceeded my expectations every time I use it. It is tack free after 8-10 seconds, so you do not need to put any varnish on it. Plus you know who you are sending your money to.

Awesome guys! Looking forward to seeing them.

Sent. Thanks!

Large Mouth / Small Mouth Bass - As long as it floats swap

Mine will be going out in a day or so. Please tell me how these fish! -
Better? I left the plastic form on and it makes it a lot stiffer feeling. I think i like it. The UV Resin sticks very well to the plastic. What do you guys think?

pm'd!

Huh. I did not think of this. Is there any reason not to do this? It is light enough I imagine and would add durability to the fly. I should still be able to trim down the bottom a bunch. I have only 1 clump of hair under the shank.
-
Yes, I have a clear plastic form to shape the bottom shape. Now I just need something clear to stop the UV resin from sticking to the plastic when I set it.
-
Oops, I meant stacked Deer hair Poppers. * I very well could be using these wrong. I always thought a concave face was a popper. A flat face was a slider. I do not know how I came to that conclusion lol, so I guess i need to do some research.
-
Poppers I am doing for a swap. Most poppers I have used have not had a flat face. They usually are concave to "pop" the water when you strip it. I have seen people use glass in video's but that gives you a flat face. I have Plastic cut to form the shape. I am just wondering if anyone knows of something to stop the resin from sticking to the plastic. The catch is it has to be clear so the light can shine through to cure the resin. I am going to try some different clear tapes today and see if it will not stick to those.

What is clear that UV resin will not stick to? I tried a plastic bottle and Saran Wrap and neither worked. I am trying to form a concave shape on these popper heads. *I cut the curved part of a pop bottle out in little circle to form it. I just need something to stop the resin from sticking to the plastic.

I do not see anything in the swap rules about 50 posts. Someone care to link the thread?

Perfect! That is pretty much driving distance! Thank you.

I will add that since switching to the 200 Den I have not had a break.

You need to participate in 3 swaps and then pm an Admin your info. Then you are good to go for SM.

I have one spot open. You will need to tie 12 Clousers in 2 weeks and mail them to Washington state. Thanks!
-
It was all Silver's UV resin on top of thread base. It was the first time I have used it seriously since I started tying. I was very happy with it!

We have 1 open spot. I sent a pm to jmckaughan as he was #13 so if he gets back to me in the next day the spot is his. If not I will open this up to one more person who can tie 12 and send them in in the next 2 weeks. *I also sent reminder messages to a couple of people that have not logged in for a while.

Sorry to hear about the rough times. I will assume you will not make the deadline for my swap then and find a replacement if possible. Thanks for letting us know.

Got mine today. Some great looking flies everyone! Thanks tyler94 for hosting.

I have broken 1 time since I loosened the bobbin considerably. It looked like it broke in the tube but not sure. When it breaks it "feels" like 30 individual strands breaking in rapid succession, it just kinda frays?. I was wondering at first if the bottom of the bobbin tube was nicking the thread and I am still not sure. I ran some fine thread in it and pulled it around the tube under tension to see if I could feel anything snagging and got nothing. Not sure if I could feel it but I tried regardless Thanks immensely for the help all. I will post pics of these poppers in the swap thread in a day or 2.
